Artificial Intelligence Facilitates Breast Cancer Treatment Argenit's project, which enables automatic detection of cancer cells through artificial intelligence and determines appropriate treatment for patients, has been approved by TÜBİTAK. Approximately 19,000 women in Turkey develop breast cancer annually. The Argenit project, approved by TÜBİTAK, facilitates diagnosis of cancer cells through artificial intelligence and thus enables patient treatment. The project will also promote the use of immunotherapy in cancer treatment.

Argenit's Project Approved by TÜBİTAK

Breast cancer, which develops from uncontrolled proliferation of cells in breast tissue, is counted among the top ten cancer types most frequently diagnosed in women. According to Ministry of Health data, approximately 19,000 women in Turkey develop breast cancer annually. The project developed by Argenit will facilitate diagnosis of breast cancer cells through artificial intelligence. At the same time, the project will enable more effective use of immunotherapy, which strengthens the immune system against cancer cells, in cancer treatment. In this project, the suitability of immunotherapy for breast cancer patients will also be determined using artificial intelligence. The Argenit project has been approved by TÜBİTAK and the project is expected to simplify diagnosis and treatment. Breast cancer occurs in one of every 8 women, and the course of the disease varies from patient to patient. In cancer treatment, the location of the disease, its stage, and the patient's medical history and age also play a role. Argenit's image processing and analysis system will enable more accurate and faster diagnosis. By determining the suitability of immunotherapy for patients through artificial intelligence, the success rate of treatments will increase. Burak Buyrukbilen, Argenit's co-founder, made statements on the subject.

Personalized Treatments Can Be Applied in the Most Appropriate Manner

In his statement, Burak Buyrukbilen said: "The rate at which lymphocytes, which protect our immune system and are a type of white blood cell, accumulate around cancerous tissue is given relatively through the pathologist's observation in routine pathology. While this diagnostic method is relative and experience-based, it complicates the selection of patients suitable for immunotherapy treatment, which is expensive and difficult to access. In our project accepted by TÜBİTAK, we focused on its critical role in the treatment process, knowing the vital value of fast and reliable results. Our aim is to contribute to treatment processes with standard, repeatable, shareable and archivable results. With the objective results obtained, patients can be divided into more accurate subgroups and personalized treatments can be applied in the most appropriate manner."
