Down Syndrome Risk Increases 2.5-Fold in Births After Age 35
Burak Buyrukbilen, co-founder of Argenit, states that the digitalization of genetic testing in Down syndrome has brought a new dimension to Turkey's health sector: "One in every 800 births involves Down syndrome. As maternal age exceeds 35, this ratio rises to one in 350. When chromosomal anomalies within cell nuclei found in Down syndrome and cancer types are diagnosed early, the success rate of diagnosis and treatment for such diseases increases. With the domestic artificial intelligence software we have developed, we have achieved 99.9 percent success in genetic profiling of diseases. Through the projects Argenit has implemented, it successfully represents Turkey at international level." Sixty-five percent of genetic diagnoses in our country are provided through domestic systems developed by Argenit. With over 300 genetic diagnostic systems installed in more than 100 hospitals and genetic diagnostic centers in Turkey, Argenit is the only company in the world that develops and uses an AI system for genetic diagnosis that is subject to patent protection. With nearly 100 systems used in Turkey, all Turkic republics, and many neighboring countries, particularly Iran, Argenit is advancing Turkey's national technology initiative in genetics.Advertisement
