Turkish Pharmaceutical Industry Steps Up Domestic Supply

Against the backdrop of global supply-chain crises, post-pandemic manufacturing-security imperatives and renewed focus on health independence, the Turkish pharmaceutical industry's vision for domestic production and robust supply chains was tabled at a significant gathering in Istanbul. The TİYSAT B2B Business Opportunities Event, organized by Artkim Group on behalf of TİYSAT (Technology, Pharmaceutical and Domestic Industry Cluster), brought together all sector stakeholders—from manufacturing to technology—at the historic Rumeli Han, which once housed pharmaceutical operations during the Scientific Pharmacy Day.

At the event held at Rumeli Han, which hosted pharmaceutical operations during the Ottoman period, pharmaceutical manufacturers, raw-material and active-ingredient suppliers, machinery producers, automation and software companies, and sector professionals established direct contact. Strategic priorities emerged focused on increasing domestic production capacity, strengthening sustainable manufacturing infrastructure and securing a stronger position in global competition.

CLOSURE OF STRAIT OF HORMUZ UNDERSCORED IMPORTANCE OF PHARMACEUTICAL ANCILLARY INDUSTRY
TİYSAT Management Board Chairman Erdinç Yaşrin, commenting on the strategic importance of the pharmaceutical ancillary industry and domestic production vision, stated: "The problems in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz have made it clear to all of us that continuity and access are as vital as production itself. Therefore, alongside strong manufacturing, we also need strong communication, branding and marketing approaches. We believe that as domestic production capacity is strengthened, our sector's global competitive power will also increase. Production is invaluable, but true success comes only to the extent that you can convey the value you create to the world."

A DOMESTIC INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING ECOSYSTEM MUST BE BUILT AGAINST GLOBAL CRISES

At the organization, which was held exclusively with table-based participation by TİYSAT members, all links in the pharmaceutical production chain held one-on-one meetings. Throughout the event, particularly the global logistics problems experienced in recent years, raw-material sourcing timeframes, manufacturing continuity and the effects of regional crises on the pharmaceutical industry were brought to the agenda. Sector representatives highlighted that strengthening domestic manufacturing infrastructure is a critical requirement not only from an economic perspective, but also from a health-security standpoint.

THE SECTOR'S NEW-PERIOD AGENDA WAS ALSO SHARED
Within the scope of the event, information was shared with sector representatives regarding the TİYSAT e-magazine whose preparations are underway, while work is continuing for the Research Conference to be held on 29–30 June in cooperation with TUSEB and TİYSAT. TUSEB Vice Chairman Assoc. Prof. Dr. Murat Sarğın, who participated in the program, also met with sector representatives and commented on the work being conducted. The one-on-one meetings are aimed at contributing to new investment processes, domestic production-focused projects and long-term inter-sector partnerships.
