Teknopark Istanbul won the GRAND PRIX award at ISIF'22 Istanbul International Invention Fair, Turkey's only international-level invention fair. The GRAND PRIX, the fair's highest award, was presented for Prof. Dr. Rana Sanyal's invention of "Biodegradable polymer drug conjugates." Held under the auspices of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, in cooperation with the International Federation of Inventors' Associations (IFIA), the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the European Patent Office (EPO), the ISIF'22 International Invention Fair concluded with the GRAND PRIX trophy, the fair's highest award, going to Teknopark Istanbul for the second consecutive year. Prof. Dr. Rana Sanyal, Founding Partner of RS Research operating within Teknopark Istanbul, received the award he won with his invention "Biodegradable Polymer Drug Conjugates" from the hands of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Teknopark Istanbul Technology Transfer Office Connectto, which participated in the fair with 10 patents, became the recipient of a total of 10 awards. In addition to RS Research, which won the GRAND PRIX trophy—extremely difficult to win two years in a row—SFA R&D and New Senses companies operating within Teknopark Istanbul won gold medals, while Altınay Defense, Remora Technology and Cet Technology companies, as well as Teknopark Istanbul's youngest entrepreneur Mısra Berna Özdemir, won silver medals. Additionally, New Senses was recognized with the International Innovation Exhibition ARCA special award.
Teknopark Istanbul General Manager Bilal TOPÇU made the following comments on the matter:
He stated that the entrepreneurs who won awards would begin commercialization efforts with the support provided by the technology transfer office and incubation center within Istanbul Teknopark, and expressed his belief that investment news would be forthcoming very soon. At TEKNOFEST KARADENIZ, held at Samsun Çarşamba Airport under the direction of the Turkey Technology Team Foundation (T3 Foundation) and the Ministry of Industry and Technology, a total of 277 inventions were exhibited at Turkey's only international-level invention fair led by the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, consisting of 210 domestic and 67 foreign inventions. Each invention displayed at ISIF'22 was evaluated separately by an international jury composed of experts in their respective fields. A total of 11 special, 40 gold, 80 silver and 70 bronze medals were awarded to participants at the event.
