Waste Medication Collection Boxes Distributed to Healthcare Facilities Terme Municipality, under its "Zero Waste Project," has distributed waste medication collection boxes to all pharmacies and healthcare facilities in the district as part of a new initiative to collect expired medicines. Terme Municipality Mayor Ali Kılıç is continuing waste management and zero waste initiatives under the 'Zero Waste Project' implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization. Through the application launched within the project scope, Terme Municipality has distributed waste medication collection boxes to all pharmacies and healthcare facilities in the district.

Terme Municipality Launches Effort to Collect Waste Medications

Terme Municipality continues to support the 'Zero Waste Project.' Under the initiative launched under the leadership of Mayor Ali Kılıç, waste medications from pharmacies and healthcare facilities will be collected and properly disposed of. Through this application, collected medications will be disposed of in a manner that does not harm the environment. Previously, Terme Municipality's Sanitation Department had commissioned the Black Sea Region's second Class 1 waste reception facility and mobile waste collection points. This time, Terme Municipality's Sanitation Department, in accordance with the circular prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, distributed waste medication collection boxes to all pharmacies and healthcare facilities in the district to enable the separation and disposal of waste medications without harm to the environment. Under the initiative launched, citizens can take expired and unused medications from their homes to the nearest pharmacy or healthcare facility and place them in the waste medication collection box. Medications placed in the waste boxes will be collected at regular intervals by teams and disposed of without causing environmental damage.

To Be Disposed of Separately Without Harming the Environment

Terme Municipality Mayor Ali Kılıç made remarks on the subject. Stating that this work is being carried out to prevent medications from mixing with trash, Kılıç said: "We will collect waste medications as part of recycling efforts. Within the scope of the circular prepared by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, we are placing waste medication collection boxes and informational posters in our pharmacies and healthcare facilities to prevent medicines from ending up in the trash. In this way, we will collect expired medications from our citizens' homes and ensure they are disposed of separately without harming the environment." Terme pharmacists drew attention to the fact that in recent years, when global warming and environmental pollution seriously threaten our world, in addition to visible pollution, waste medication is one of the most important factors that pollute soil and water and thus threaten public health, though not visible to the naked eye. The pharmacists thanked Municipality Mayor Kılıç for this initiative.
