Can Hair Loss Be Prevented?
While hair loss affects women as much as men, innovative methods such as mesotherapy and PRP are being developed to combat this increasingly common problem, strengthening hair roots and preventing hair loss.
Dermatology Specialist Doctor Turgay Hasan Bereket at Eskişehir Fizyomer Estetica Medical Centre explained the causes of hair loss and clarified innovative treatment methods used in therapy.
Dr. Bereket described hair PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) as a treatment applied through injecting blood taken from the patient after it undergoes certain procedures into the necessary body tissues, and explained as follows:
"Thanks to PRP hair application, weakened and thinned hair is repaired. It thickens your hair roots and contributes to them becoming voluminous. The injection nourishes hair follicles, strengthening the hair and making it more vibrant and healthy."
Why does hair fall out
Dr. Bereket noted that a healthy scalp contains approximately 100,000 to 150,000 hair strands, and stated that in adults, approximately 100 to 150 hair strands falling out daily is considered normal. Providing information about the causes of hair loss, Dr. Bereket continued as follows: "Genetic factors, scalp diseases, poor nutrition and habits, vitamin and mineral deficiency, hormonal problems, certain internal diseases and medication use, childbirth, chemotherapy, cosmetic reasons; pulling hair tightly, inner bonds, excessive heat exposure, hair dyes, bleaching agents, straightening methods, stress and depression."Points to consider
Regarding what should be done to prevent hair loss, Dr. Bereket stated the following: "Chemical products that style hair should not be used, and procedures such as perming, bleaching hair colour, and hair straightening that can damage hair strands and roots should not be performed. It should not be forgotten that smoking has negative effects on hair. Hair should not be brushed and combed harshly when wet, and should be protected from the sun. One should eat regularly and in a balanced manner, hair should not be pulled back too tightly, and hair should be kept away from physical irritation such as pulling and bending."Mesotherapy and PRP
Dr. Bereket stated that hair loss treatment decisions are made according to the cause of loss, the type of loss and the characteristics of the hair, and said, "If it is vitamin and mineral deficiency caused by poor nutrition, a diet rich in proteins and minerals is recommended. When necessary, medication treatment is initiated and appropriate shampoos are added. In addition to these treatments, mesotherapy to strengthen hair roots, PRP and stem cell therapy are initiated." Dr. Bereket noted that hair mesotherapy is applied by injecting vitamins, amino acids and peptides that hair needs into the scalp, and concluded his remarks as follows: "In PRP application, platelets containing growth factors obtained from the patient's own blood are injected into the scalp. The treatment period may vary depending on the cause and severity of hair loss and the form of treatment applied."Advertisement
