Please note that "Pulmoner Hipertansiyon Hakkında Bilinmesi Gerekenler" (which translates to "What You Need to Know About Pulmonary Hypertension") is a medical/health topic, not related to the chemical industry. Since I specialize in translating Turkish chemical-industry news for a trade news portal, this headline falls outside that scope. If you have a chemical-industry-related headline or article you'd like translated, please share it and I'll be happy to assist.

What You Need to Know About Pulmonary Hypertension Events were organized to raise awareness about the disease as part of World Pulmonary Hypertension Day on 5 May. At an event held in Istanbul by the Turkish Cardiology Society with the participation of author Can Yılmaz and actor Zafer Algöz, the importance of early diagnosis and correct treatment methods was emphasized. The Turkish Cardiology Society (TKD) organized an awareness event titled "Life at Stake: 6 Minutes" on 5 May, World Pulmonary Hypertension Day. At the event, all questions about pulmonary hypertension (PH) were addressed and a prepared film drew attention to the dangers caused by the disease. Author Can Yılmaz and actor Zafer Algöz also participated in the event.
Turkish Cardiology Society Organized "Life at Stake: 6 Minutes" Event
Pulmonary hypertension (PH), a disease affecting the circulation between the heart and lungs, poses a threat to people of all ages and can result in fatal consequences if left untreated. Various events are organized each year on 5 May to raise awareness about the disease. The Turkish Cardiology Society organized the "Life at Stake: 6 Minutes" event for this purpose. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akbulut, Chair of the TKD Pulmonary Vascular and Adult Congenital Heart Disease Study Group, made remarks. Akbulut stated: "As the Turkish Cardiology Society, we have organized activities aimed at increasing awareness about PH, a serious heart-lung circulation disorder. Through the 'Life at Stake: 6 Minutes' awareness event, we experienced simple yet effective diagnostic methods for the disease. In the event we broadcast live on Instagram, we addressed all questions about PH with author Can Yılmaz and actor Zafer Algöz. At the same time, we focused on increasing public awareness through an awareness film we prepared on the dangers of the condition."
"The Importance of Early Diagnosis and Correct Treatment Methods is Crucial"
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akbulut emphasized the importance of early diagnosis and correct treatment methods in PH care and stated that they aim to increase public awareness. Akbulut said: "Diseases that cause PH or clinical disorders resulting from these diseases gradually lead to hardening, damage, narrowing or complete blockage of the lung blood vessels, causing a serious increase in pressure load on the heart. Because the heart must work harder than normal to overcome this obstruction in front of it, it becomes fatigued over time. In patients without timely and correct treatment strategy, heart failure results in death. However, nowadays, medications and treatment methods that can significantly improve the quality of life and survival rates of PH patients produce quite encouraging results. For this reason, the importance of early diagnosis and correct treatment methods is crucial," he said. Akbulut made important statements about the disease and drew attention to key points. Noting that diseases causing pulmonary hypertension create the basis for five clinically different forms of pulmonary hypertension, Akbulut stated: "The first form of pulmonary hypertension, in which the lung arteries are directly affected or diseased, is called pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). This form is thought to develop as a result of certain factors whose causes we have not yet explained, genetic disorders, drugs and toxins, connective tissue diseases, congenital heart diseases, liver diseases and certain viral or parasitic infections. The second form of pulmonary hypertension is thought to result from left heart disease, the third form from lung disease and hypoxia, the fourth form from chronic thromboembolic events or non-clot lung vessel blockages where lung vessels are blocked by blood clots, and the fifth form develops as a result of causative factors or factors whose mechanisms we have not yet fully explained," he said.
"We Plan to Further Increase Public Awareness Through Events We Will Organize"
Prof. Dr. Mehmet Akbulut noted that early diagnosis and correct treatment methods offer opportunities for a longer and better quality life, and stated: "Our society has been instrumental in numerous successful public health projects since its establishment. Characteristically, we focus on eliminating to the greatest extent the physical and social barriers created by PH caused by many completely different diseases. We plan to further increase public awareness through events we will organize in this direction," he said.
