Polifarma Develops New Formula for Chemotherapy Treatment
Polifarma, a domestic and nationally-owned pharmaceutical company in Turkey's healthcare sector, has developed Turkey's first neurokinin (NK1) blocker in IV (intravenous solution) formulation to prevent nausea and vomiting, common complications encountered in chemotherapy treatment.
Polifarma Pharmaceuticals, a 100 percent domestically-owned company, has completed production of Turkey's first generic product to prevent nausea and vomiting in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Adding another achievement to its work in oncology, Polifarma has produced Turkey's first neurokinin blocker in IV formulation that completely prevents nausea and vomiting when used half an hour before chemotherapy administration. For this project, which also sets a precedent by enabling use in all patients over 6 months of age, Polifarma made an investment of approximately TRY 2,000,000.
"The product will bring significant added value to our sector"
Vildan Kumrulu, Vice Chairman of the Board of Polifarma, emphasizing that this drug developed as a domestic and nationally-owned company will bring significant added value to the sector, said: "We are pleased to have achieved another first for our country. Our product in oral solution formulation to prevent nausea and vomiting in chemotherapy treatment has the distinction of being the first in Turkey. Turkey's first neurokinin blocker in IV formulation offers usage advantages compared to tablet form. Because the product is administered intravenously to patients, it is both more effective and there is no risk of forgetting to take it. Our product, which will be available from both hospitals and pharmacies, will be launched for sale in 2021," he stated.Advertisement
