P&G Continues Support Efforts in Turkey During Coronavirus Process
Procter & Gamble (P&G), which has been operating in Turkey for 33 years and improving consumers' lives through its products and projects, is launching new community contribution initiatives to support those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Under this program, P&G will provide support valued at a total of TRY 7.5 million to tens of thousands of families. The multi-purpose support program's Ramadan phase will be implemented through Fairy, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary in Turkey, targeting families in need.
P&G, a producer of cleaning and personal care products including brands such as Fairy, Ariel, Prima and Head&Shoulders, aims to contribute to society through projects implemented in the countries where it operates while improving people's lives. In this context, P&G, which has added value to the lives of thousands of people through various projects to date, will support tens of thousands of families with different initiatives starting in March when the pandemic began and extending until the end of June.
Hygiene support for quarantine dormitories
Tankut Turnaoğlu, Chairman of the Board of P&G Turkey, Caucasus and Central Asia, made a statement on the matter and noted that they have prepared a multi-phase community contribution program starting in March. Explaining that in the first phase they met the needs of people arriving from abroad and staying in quarantine dormitories as part of preventive measures, Turnaoğlu stated: "During the COVID-19 process in March, especially our citizens arriving from abroad were placed under quarantine in dormitories across Turkey. As P&G Turkey, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and through the Red Crescent, we delivered Ariel laundry detergent, Flash surface cleaner and Fairy dish detergent to 41 KYK dormitories in 26 provinces where more than 15,000 citizens were quarantined to provide home comfort. Additionally, we sent our products such as Head & Shoulders and Pantene hair care products, Oral-B toothbrushes, İpana toothpaste, Gillette shaving products and Orkid cotton pads to citizens staying in 26 dormitories in 17 provinces."Special project for Fairy's 10th year in Turkey: "Wasteful Spending"
Turnaoğlu announced that the meaningful project they have launched for Fairy's 10th anniversary in Turkey is the second phase of their support programs. Expressing that through the new corporate social responsibility project they will combat waste, which is one of the world's and our country's biggest problems, Turnaoğlu said: "Research shows that one-third of food presented for consumption in the world is wasted, and based on this, we are entering into a partnership with the Food Rescue Association (GKTD) to launch a brand new project." Turnaoğlu said: "In the first phase, Fairy will finance the association's logistics infrastructure with a substantial budget. While GKTD currently reaches 330,000 people annually, this support will double that number. 660,000 people will benefit from this support." Tankut Turnaoğlu expressed that they plan to implement the final phase of the benefit projects during the holiday period after Ramadan. He stated that in addition to the TRY 1.5 million product donation made to date, they will make a separate product donation of TRY 3 million to needy families who have lost income during the pandemic period, consisting of basic hygiene, health and personal care products in cooperation with the Red Crescent. Turnaoğlu said: "We aim to provide this support to tens of thousands of families. We will work with Turkish Red Crescent, with whom we have collaborated for many years."
