PAÜ Contributes to Health and Education

A protocol was signed for the provision of physical therapy and rehabilitation services by faculty members of Pamukkale University School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation to patients hospitalized at Pamukkale University Hospital. A protocol was signed between Pamukkale University (PAÜ) School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation (FTRYO) and Pamukkale University Hospitals. According to this protocol, patients undergoing treatment at the hospital will receive physical therapy and rehabilitation services from PAÜ FTRYO faculty members. These patients may also be treated by students who have received adequate applied physiotherapy training.

PAÜ School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Faculty Will Support Treatments

A protocol was signed between PAÜ FTRYO and Pamukkale University Hospitals. As a result of this protocol, FTRYO faculty members and students who have completed applied physiotherapy coursework will be able to support patient treatment. Treatment of patients requiring physical therapy and rehabilitation services will be carried out by faculty members. This protocol was signed at a signing ceremony attended by Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan, along with PAÜ FTRYO Director Prof. Dr. Ali Kitiş, Deputy Director Prof. Dr. Nihal Büker, PAÜ Hospitals Deputy Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Murat Özban and Chief Administrator Murat Taşer. The signed protocol had been in effect previously and its term was extended. The experienced faculty members of PAÜ FTRYO will provide physiotherapy support to patients undergoing surgery or receiving treatment in intensive care units or wards at PAÜ Hospitals, contributing to their recovery processes. For undergraduate and graduate level students who have received adequate applied physiotherapy training, these treatments will serve as a practical field for increasing their professional experience and will enable the training of far more experienced physiotherapists in the future.

Students Will Begin Their Professional Careers with Gained Experience

PAÜ FTRYO Director Prof. Dr. Ali Kitiş made remarks on the protocol following the signing. Stating that through the protocol, physical therapy and rehabilitation services will be provided by school faculty members to patients undergoing treatment in wards, particularly in intensive care units, Kitiş noted that undergraduate and graduate level students will also participate in these treatments, thereby enabling students to begin their professional careers with significantly greater experience following graduation. Kitiş expressed hope that the protocol would bring benefits to all parties, patients and students. Deputy Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Murat Özban also made remarks on the protocol. Özban reported that patients undergoing surgery and treatment are currently receiving physical therapy services from PAÜ FTRYO faculty members and that today they extended the term of the protocol, expressing satisfaction that contributions to health and education will continue in this regard.

Important for Improving the Quality of Health Services Provided at the Hospital

Rector Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kutluhan emphasized that this signed protocol is one of the most concrete indicators that the University functions as a whole with all its units. Kutluhan stressed that they extended the term of the existing agreement concerning the provision of physiotherapy services by PAÜ FTRYO faculty members and students. Noting that physical therapy is present in every area of life, Rector Prof. Dr. Kutluhan stated that patients show intensive demand for physical therapy services due to both surgical procedures and rheumatological diseases. He emphasized that the protocol is extremely important in improving the quality of health services provided at the hospital and in helping patients understand the importance of physiotherapy.
