The Novo Group companies, which include the Denmark-based global pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk, have pooled their resources to contribute USD 3.5 million to a fund established by UNICEF to combat Covid-19.

In response to the pandemic that emerged in 2020 and affected the world, the Novo Group companies, which include Novo Nordisk, united their efforts to combat the crisis. Novo Group raised USD 3.5 million for the fund established by UNICEF to combat Covid-19. These funds will be used for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of coronavirus. In this way, the research and development process for vaccines needed for treatment and disease prevention will also be accelerated. The Novo Nordisk Foundation opened its production facilities and R&D laboratories for use by health authorities from the start of the pandemic and contributed more than USD 7 million in the initial phase to combat the outbreak. In the second phase, the company donated free insulin to international relief organizations such as the Red Cross and UNICEF, with which it collaborates to ensure access to insulin for diabetic patients living in conflict zones. This program, with a budget of DKK 20 million, consisted of medication donations, free transportation of medicines to areas in need, and emergency cash donations. In Turkey, Novo Nordisk Turkey allocated TRY 1 million in resources for Covid-19 response and made cash donations both through the sector association AIFD and directly to the Ministry of Health.
