Novo Nordisk Provides Major Support to Covid-19 Efforts The Novo Group companies, which include the Denmark-based global pharmaceutical firm Novo Nordisk, have pooled their resources to contribute USD 3.5 million to a fund established by UNICEF to combat Covid-19. Novo Group Raises USD 3.5 Million for Covid-19 Response Fund

In response to the pandemic that emerged in 2020 and affected the world, the Novo Group companies, which include Novo Nordisk, united their efforts to combat the crisis. Novo Group raised USD 3.5 million for the fund established by UNICEF to combat Covid-19. These funds will be used for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of coronavirus. Since the start of the pandemic, Novo Nordisk has opened its production facilities and R&D laboratories for use by health authorities, emphasizing through this support its continued commitment to fighting Covid-19.

800,000 People Can Be Vaccinated

With the USD 3.5 million support provided by Novo Group, the company will assist low- and middle-income countries with vaccine and medical equipment support. This amount was collected through donations from Novo Group companies and is sufficient to vaccinate 800,000 people. The fund will help increase the capacity of countries' health systems and reduce the social impact of the pandemic on communities, particularly for women, children, and vulnerable groups. In this way, the research and development process for vaccines needed for treatment and disease prevention will also be accelerated. Dr. Burak Cem, Vice President and General Manager of Novo Nordisk Turkey, commented on the matter. Has Provided Major Support to Pandemic Response from the Start

The Novo Nordisk Foundation opened its production facilities and R&D laboratories for use by health authorities from the start of the pandemic and contributed more than USD 7 million in the initial phase to combat the outbreak. In the second phase, the company donated free insulin to international relief organizations such as the Red Cross and UNICEF, with which it collaborates to ensure access to insulin for diabetic patients living in conflict zones. This program, with a budget of DKK 20 million, consisted of medication donations, free transportation of medicines to areas in need, and emergency cash donations. In Turkey, Novo Nordisk Turkey allocated TRY 1 million in resources for Covid-19 response and made cash donations both through the sector association AIFD and directly to the Ministry of Health. The company also donated protective equipment such as masks, suits, and glasses to support healthcare workers, as well as technical equipment to hospitals.
