MSD Türkiye and Ege University Continue Collaboration on Clinical Research
With its strong portfolio, MSD has been discovering medicines and vaccines for the world's most challenging diseases for over 130 years; the company has decided to continue its collaborations with Ege University.
MSD Turkey has renewed its goodwill agreement with Ege University, with which it has been working together since 2018 as part of the Center of Excellence Project for its clinical research team. Launching its initiatives to provide early access to innovative treatments and vaccines and to strengthen the research and development infrastructure required for drug discovery in Turkey, MSD continues its collaborations with universities. Following two years of partnership marked by numerous achievements in scientific collaboration in the field of clinical research, MSD Turkey and Ege University have decided to extend their mutual goodwill agreement. During the two-year scientific collaboration with Ege University, with the support of MSD Turkey Regional General Manager Gözde Güllüoğlu, Ege University Rector Prof. Dr. Necdet Budak and MSD Turkey, Middle East and Egypt Clinical Research Director Betül Erdoğan, significant progress was achieved in many jointly targeted areas. The diversity of clinical research treatment areas conducted at the center was expanded, with priority given to oncology, infectious diseases and vaccines.By maximizing the center's potential, significant increases were achieved in the number of clinical trials conducted and, in parallel, patient participation in clinical research conducted in Turkey. More patients were provided access to innovative drug and vaccine studies, while physicians gained the opportunity to experience innovative medicines and vaccines early. The center, conducting more clinical research, has strengthened its clinical research infrastructure and improvements have been realized in clinical research center initiation processes.
Speaking within the framework of this scientific collaboration between MSD and Ege University, MSD Turkey Regional General Manager Gözde Güllüoğlu stated, "As MSD Turkey, we believe that university-industry collaboration practices will bring great success to our country.
