Kedrion Biopharma Expands Activities in Turkey ANKARA (AA) Kedrion Biopharma, Italy's leading pharmaceutical company in plasma product manufacturing, announced that it is expanding its activities in the Turkish market. A reception organized by Kedrion Biopharma was held at Italy's Embassy in Ankara, attended by Italy's Ambassador to Ankara Massimo Gaiani, company executives and management of Kedrion-Betaphar, the company's subsidiary in Turkey. During his remarks at the event, Gaiani noted that the COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of the health sector, saying "Kedrion made the decision to make a significant investment in Turkey. It not only brought business opportunities to Turkey, but also provided an opportunity to help families suffering from rare and uncommon diseases. I find this very important from a social impact perspective." Maria Lina Marcucci, Board Member of Kedrion Biopharma, stated that while the company has a 20-year history, her family has been in the sector since 1952. Pointing out that the diseases they treat seriously affect people's lives, Marcucci noted that the medicines they have developed treat not only common diseases affecting many people but also rare diseases. Marcucci, noting that they have been visiting Turkey frequently for 30 years, said "Our relationship with this country is in very good shape. In the past we only sold our products commercially, but now we have found a very good partner to establish ourselves in this country. After the USA and Italy, Turkey is our third largest market. I am proud of the step we are taking."

Significant for Turkey and the Middle East

İhsan Arslan, Honorary Chairman of Aslan Group, which houses the Kedrion-Betaphar partnership, explained the collaboration process with the company, stating that they decided to work together in the import and marketing of blood products. Pointing out the importance of this collaboration for Turkey, Arslan said: "The production of these products in Turkey is of great importance not only for Turkey, but also for all Middle Eastern and neighboring countries. There is no production of these products in this region. Turkey alone has a market of over EUR 300 million, but such an investment would mean a financial value of at least EUR 1 billion."
