Temperature Fluctuations Weaken the Body's Resistance
Temperature Fluctuations Reduce Bodily Resistance
Prof. Dr. Aytaç Atamer, Internal Medicine Specialist at Üsküdar Üniversitesi NPİSTANBUL Hospital, provided explanations on how weather changes affect immunity.
Internal Medicine Specialist Prof. Dr. Aytaç Atamer, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition, adequate water consumption, regular sleep and exercise to avoid falling ill due to sudden weather changes, stressed that enclosed spaces must be well-ventilated and prolonged exposure to air conditioning should be avoided.
Temperature fluctuations can endanger health
Internal Medicine Specialist Prof. Dr. Aytaç Atamer, stating that high air temperatures one day and low temperatures the next day threaten the health of those caught unprepared for such conditions, continued his remarks as follows: "Sudden weather changes disrupt the human body's adaptation and defense mechanisms, thereby inviting disease." Noting that bodily resistance can decrease with changing temperatures, Atamer emphasized that avoiding illness from seasonal changes depends on being informed and cautious. Noting that a proper nutrition program must first be adopted to strengthen the immune system during variable weather, Atamer stated, "Attention should be paid to food variety. Our diet should include vegetables, fruits and adequate protein. Water should be consumed in abundance. Especially during hot summer months, water consumption should be increased. Packaged fruit juices, tea, coffee and carbonated beverages are not sufficient to meet fluid requirements. Tobacco and alcohol should be avoided. Exercise appropriate to one's age and health status should be performed. Regular and quality sleep provides vitality throughout the day. Appropriate clothing should be worn for morning, noon and evening hours. Enclosed spaces must be well-ventilated. Care should be taken when using air conditioning to cool down. Prolonged exposure to air conditioning should be avoided." he advised.Increased body temperature can affect the immune system
Noting that supplements such as bee pollen, beta-carotene, vitamin complexes and green tea can be taken to strengthen the immune system, Prof. Dr. Aytaç Atamer concluded, "Our body must function within a certain temperature range to carry out its functions properly. If body temperature rises during hot weather, the protein and fat tissues in our body can be affected. Consequently, this negative effect can also be reflected in our immune system."Advertisement
