Dr. Sevinç Özgür, Head of Medical Imaging Techniques Program at Istanbul Esenyurt University, emphasized that the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare is important for disease detection and stated that diagnosis of diseases such as cancer, which carry risk, will be facilitated with artificial intelligence. Today, the areas in which artificial intelligence is used are expanding. In a statement, Dr. Sevinç Özgür mentioned that artificial intelligence can also be used in the healthcare sector. Özgür noted that disease detection is simplified with artificial intelligence and that, for this reason, the use of artificial intelligence in medical imaging is important.

Studies Demonstrate the Need and Importance of Artificial Intelligence Use in Medical Imaging

Dr. Sevinç Özgür, Head of Medical Imaging Techniques Program at Istanbul Esenyurt University, addressed the importance of artificial intelligence use in medical imaging in a statement. Conveying the benefits that the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare will provide, Dr. Sevinç Özgür stated: "Studies concerning the early detection, classification of diseases such as cancer that cause the death of millions of people every year, and their automation demonstrate the need and importance of artificial intelligence use in medical imaging." Dr. Sevinç Özgür emphasized that artificial intelligence use in healthcare is quite notable due to deep learning, encountered as one of the subdisciplines of artificial intelligence in image processing, and the digitalization of medical image formats. Dr. Sevinç Özgür stated: "The use of artificial intelligence in this field can be enabled through a process involving the participation of patients, doctors, clinicians, healthcare workers and artificial intelligence developers."

Ease of Access to Data Will Be Provided

Dr. Sevinç Özgür, also conveying that artificial intelligence use in medical imaging is not limited to preprocessing of digital medical images, stated: "Manual data processing is a process that is quite costly in terms of time and expense. This process can be transformed in favor of patients, healthcare workers and third parties or institutions performing research tasks through artificial intelligence. The applications or models to be developed should be consulted with specialists in the field such as radiologists and pathologists, and mutual information exchange should take place throughout the process. By utilizing the knowledge of healthcare workers and their experience, a successful model can be developed. Another advantage of artificial intelligence is that it provides ease of access to the data obtained. However, alongside all of this, personal privacy must absolutely not be violated," she said.
