Clariant to Donate Disinfectant to Swiss Federal Authorities
An innovation-focused specialty chemicals company, Clariant, announced today that it has donated approximately 80 tons of disinfectant per month to Swiss Federal Authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic to support protective measures. Establishing a supply chain with industry partners based in Germany and Switzerland, Clariant is meeting the disinfectant needs of Swiss medical institutions. The Swiss Armed Forces logistics capability center will also support distribution. Through its contribution, Clariant aims to increase the limited quantity of disinfectant in Switzerland during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Clariant Chief Operating Officer Hans Bohnen said, "As a global company headquartered in Switzerland, it is natural that Clariant supports Swiss Federal Authorities during these challenging times. I am proud of the support provided by all our participating employees and our partners CropEnergies and Brenntag. The successful cross-border cooperation between all parties was essential to realize this contribution."
In the scope of the donation, Clariant worked in cooperation with industry partners. Ethanol from renewable sources, the main component, is being sourced from CropEnergies, Europe's largest renewable ethanol producer. Both companies are working together to supply Bavaria with disinfectant and are further developing their cooperation.
