Bayer Launches Campaign to Raise Awareness on Women's Health: #NormalDeğil

Ahead of 8 March, Bayer Türkiye Women's Health has launched the #NormalDeğil campaign, drawing attention to health issues such as heavy menstrual bleeding and severe menstrual pain, which affect women's quality of life but are often dismissed as "normal" and left undiscussed.

Bayer Turkey Women's Health is drawing attention to health issues affecting women's quality of life—such as heavy menstrual bleeding and severe menstrual cramps—that are often discussed as "normal" through its #NotNormal campaign launched ahead of 8 March.

Addressing Overlooked Issues in Women's Health
Many situations affecting women's daily lives can become normalized over time through the thinking that "this is what being a woman is like." However, prevalence does not mean these experiences are normal.

The #NotNormal campaign launched by the Bayer Turkey Women's Health team aims to raise awareness about health issues that can affect women's quality of life but are often left unspoken.

"Prevalence Does Not Mean It Is Normal"
Beste Doğar explained the campaign's starting point with these words:

"Some experiences that repeat in women's lives can come to be accepted as 'normal' over time. However, prevalence does not mean these situations are normal. Through our #NotNormal campaign, we aim to support greater discussion and recognition of conditions that affect women's quality of life."

More Than 1.5 Billion Women Affected Globally
Research shows that more than 1.5 billion women worldwide experience a women's health-related problem. Conditions such as heavy menstrual bleeding and severe menstrual cramps can affect many areas of women's lives, from work to social activities.

Planning around the menstrual cycle, canceling activities due to pain, or making extra effort to maintain daily life can become routine experiences for many women.

Majority of Women in Turkey Experience Menstrual Pain
Research conducted in Turkey shows that approximately 38% of women experience severe menstrual bleeding at some point in their lives, and more than 85% experience menstrual pain. Nevertheless, many women often accept these symptoms as "normal" and make them part of their daily lives.

Women's Experiences Are Important to Share
Beste Doğar noted that the campaign is also part of Bayer's global approach, stating:

"#NotNormal is a powerful field reflection of the WOMEN | Bayer approach launched globally by the Bayer Women's Health team. This approach focuses on understanding and empowering women; combating myths, misconceptions, and gaps in knowledge regarding women's health."

Within the scope of the campaign, women are invited to the women.bayer.tr platform to share their experiences and access accurate information about women's health.
