Europe's Largest Vertical Farming Plant Established

Karaca announced that they have undertaken an innovative venture and established Europe's largest active plant factory. Karaca stated that the factory operates 365 days, 24 hours without requiring any agricultural pesticides (0 pesticide), producing in a soilless, sunlight-free controlled environment using 95% less water, without harming nature or any living organism.

Karaca noted that the factory, managed by artificial intelligence, is 100% Turkish-made, and stated that initially it will produce leafy green plants such as lettuce, arugula, watercress, spinach, thyme and basil, while in the second phase it will begin producing strawberries and mushrooms. Indicating that tomatoes, peppers and eggplants will follow, Can Hakan Karaca said that seed producers must now develop shorter-variety products. Explaining that the Japanese and Americans have conducted experiments related to plant factories and that they are the only Turkish company to participate in training sessions with Professor Kozai, the founder of this sector, Karaca stated, "We developed the plant factory project step by step and established Europe's largest operating plant factory. What makes the difference here is that we built this factory with 100% of our own products."

TARGET: 100 FACTORIES

Noting that plant factories can be built within cities as well, Karaca said, "Moving agriculture into the city means reducing our carbon footprint. Actually, the most commendable aspect of this project for us is being able to supply food without killing any living creature. This has been a source of motivation for me, as well as all our consultants, engineers and worker colleagues. Seeing a Turkish team achieve this will be an important note for history."
