AstraZeneca Initiative: My Name Is Human
AstraZeneca Turkey, continuing its projects aimed at creating added value for society, has launched the "My Name Is Human" project in collaboration with BilgiGender at Istanbul Bilgi University to emphasize the importance of gender equality. As part of the project, videos and podcasts featuring distinguished guests have been published across various social media channels, highlighting that people can coexist with their differences.
AstraZeneca Turkey, one of the world's leading innovative and research-based pharmaceutical companies operating in research, development, manufacturing of primary medicines and specialty products, and health services, continues its projects aimed at contributing to public benefit.
To emphasize the importance of gender equality, AstraZeneca Turkey has launched the "My Name Is Human" project under the advisorship of Prof. Dr. Itır Erhart, Faculty Member and Social Entrepreneur at Istanbul Bilgi University's Communication Faculty, and Dr. İlknur Hacısoftaoğlu, Faculty Member at Istanbul Bilgi University's Sports Management Department, in collaboration with BilgiGender at Istanbul Bilgi University. Through this project, the company draws attention to the importance of diversity and inclusion while aiming to raise awareness on breaking down stereotypes that differentiate individuals and strengthening rights and freedoms. Through videos published on the My Name Is Human YouTube channel and podcasts broadcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and Deezer platforms, academics and experts in their respective fields address gender equality from various perspectives.
AstraZeneca Turkey Country President Pharm. Serkan Barış: "Innovations can only be realized by challenging traditional ways of thinking; we strive to create a highly diverse environment where we can develop innovative approaches and ideas with our employees by adopting this perspective. We believe that gender equality is one of the main components of this thinking and production approach. Our consecutive listing for four years in the Bloomberg Gender Equality Index, which is created through voluntary disclosure of gender-related criteria, confirms this approach of ours. By promoting an inclusive environment that supports gender equality in all areas, we are highlighting the importance of gender equality through the 'My Name Is Human' project, which we launched with the statement 'whether we share the same names or not, we are all human, we are all equal,' to reflect our commitment to gender equality and transparency and to raise awareness in this field. We will continue our 'My Name Is Human' project this year and in the coming years for a strong society and strong individuals freed from discriminatory roles." he said.
Prof. Dr. Itır Erhart, Faculty Member and Social Entrepreneur at Istanbul Bilgi University's Communication Faculty, stated: "I believe that academia-private sector collaborations play a critical role in ensuring that gender equality and equal access to rights for all individuals are achieved. For this project, we brought together our knowledge, experience, competence and resources with AstraZeneca; we thought, discussed and created together. We believe that the content we have created will raise questions, open doors, and inspire." she said.
Dr. İlknur Hacısoftaoğlu, Faculty Member at Istanbul Bilgi University's Sports Management Department: "In recent years, we have been seeing an increase in private sector projects supporting gender equality, and we always try to provide support for the spread of important projects like 'My Name Is Human.' Within the project, we discussed and talked about gender equality together with the AstraZeneca team, from different dimensions and with experts on the subject. I believe it is an important contribution." she said.
