Amgen and Amgen Foundation Contribute to Fight Against COVID-19

Amgen and the Amgen Foundation announced an initial commitment of USD 12.5 million in support of efforts to address the critical needs of communities affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the United States and globally. The funds will be used to support emergency response efforts in Amgen's U.S. and international communities, patient-focused organizations in their response initiatives, direct relief, and international medical organizations in their global assistance efforts. The Amgen Foundation will also match donations made by Amgen employees worldwide who wish to contribute to relief efforts. Robert A. Bradway, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Amgen, said: "The COVID-19 pandemic is creating unprecedented challenges for people, governments and health systems everywhere in the world. This situation also demonstrates the urgent need to support community measures everywhere aimed at slowing the spread of the virus and assisting those directly affected. With this commitment, we hope to help organizations on the front lines respond to urgent needs and, at the same time, begin to better understand the longer-term needs of our communities." The Amgen Foundation is making various free online learning programs available to help students continue their science education during this period of school closures, including LabXchange™ and the Khan Academy online learning site, which it supports. LabXchange, a free online science education platform developed in partnership with Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences, provides users with access to personalized education, virtual laboratory experiences, and networking opportunities across the global science community. Khan Academy, with support from the Amgen Foundation, has expanded its biology content to include more than 300 videos, 80 exercise sets, and 195 articles.
