Amgen, through the "Amgen Women Empowered to be Exceptional" (WE2) initiative, which it has also launched in Turkey to develop exceptional female leaders, aims to create a work environment where employees support and develop one another.
Güldem Berkman, General Director of Amgen Turkey and Gensenta, stated: "Through WE2, we are working to increase the number of strong female leaders shaping Amgen's future."
Amgen, one of the world's leading biotechnology companies, aims to create a work environment where employees support and develop one another and succeed through the "Amgen Women Empowered to be Exceptional" (WE2) initiative.
Believing that companies will progress with policies grounded in human rights and diversity, Amgen offers employees through the WE2 program, which was also launched in Turkey, an environment focused on participation, respect, individual responsibility and value diversity.
Expressing enthusiasm about launching the program in Turkey as well, Güldem Berkman, General Director of Amgen Turkey and Gensenta, said: "WE2 is a program created for developing exceptional female leaders. Through WE2, we are working to increase the number of strong female leaders shaping Amgen's future.
At Amgen, we operate by investing in innovative understanding alongside our shared objectives. As the Amgen family, we are solution partners who embrace challenges, seek the next opportunity, and strive to find solutions to questions without answers."
Noting that women make up half of the working-age population in the world, Güldem Berkman stated: "The loss resulting from the economic disempowerment of women is more than 10% of GDP in developed economies and over 30% in regions such as South Asia, the Middle East and North Africa.
Although the economic gender gap has narrowed by 0.1 percentage points annually during the 2006-2019 period, at the current pace it will still take 99.5 years to reach the desired level.
As Amgen, we place importance on increasing the added value created by women in every field and operate with the understanding that productivity and profitability increase in companies where women play an active role."
Women comprise 70% of management team
Filiz Kozcağız, Director of Human Resources at Amgen Turkey and Gensenta, said that the foundation of Amgen's human resources policy lies in the perspective that "every job and every Amgen employee matters." Stating that women comprise 40% of total employees at Amgen, Kozcağız emphasized that this proportion increases to 70% in the management team. Kozcağız said: "Within the WE2 program launched in Turkey, which includes representatives from male and female employees of different departments, the foundation of our 2020 activities covers family support, career development, work-life balance and communication initiatives." Highlighting that diversity is important at Amgen, Kozcağız stated: "For our success to be sustainable, we introduce and maintain an inclusive, high-performance culture where all team members embrace and benefit from each other's talents and backgrounds. We provide a work environment full of opportunities where our employees can chart their own roadmap to pursue their professional passions and realize their full potential."Scholarship support for doctoral students
