Abdi Ibrahim's Emission Reduction Targets Validated The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated Abdi Ibrahim's carbon emission reduction targets established under its HEAL2030 strategy. Abdi Ibrahim became the first and only Turkish pharmaceutical company to be a signatory to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) with its commitments approved. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), following two years of intensive work and rigorous review processes, has approved Abdi Ibrahim's commitments to reduce its carbon footprint under its HEAL2030 sustainability strategy. As a result, Abdi Ibrahim's targets to reduce direct and indirect carbon emissions from its operations by 60% and all other indirect emissions from its supply chain and purchased products by 45% by 2030, relative to the 2020 baseline year, have been validated by SBTi.

Emphasizing that efficient use of energy resources and responsible conduct towards nature are among the most important issues for Abdi Ibrahim, M. Oğuzcan Bülbül said: "As a company that carries out pioneering work in the field of sustainability; at our Istanbul Esenyurt Production Complex, we are producing for the first time in the Turkish pharmaceutical sector with a Green Energy Certificate (I-REC) and we are providing our consumers in more than 60 countries worldwide, particularly Turkey, with pharmaceuticals and consumer health products manufactured using completely renewable energy. Furthermore, we are closely following important topics such as Web 3.0, digitalization, metaverses, machine learning, artificial intelligence, wearable technologies and the processing of big data they provide, and the production of personalized consumer health products using three-dimensional printers. The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), stands out as an initiative that encourages companies to set targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions to meet the Paris Climate Agreement's goal of "keeping global warming below 1.5°C", to play an active role in combating the climate crisis, and to ensure that their sustainability commitments are based entirely on scientific calculations and data, while independently evaluating companies. Globally, 55 pharmaceutical companies are signatories to SBTi; among these, 34 pharmaceutical companies have had their commitments approved. From Turkey, there are 31 companies that have signed the SBTi initiative regardless of sector. Apart from Abdi Ibrahim, the first and only Turkish pharmaceutical company to have its commitments approved by SBTi approximately two years after becoming a signatory, only 6 companies from Turkey have had their commitments approved.
