Abdi İbrahim's Multifaceted Contribution to Turkey's Economy
Operating in the Turkish pharmaceutical sector for 107 years, Abdi İbrahim has continuously strengthened its position through ongoing investments at home and abroad. The company announced it will create 270 additional jobs over the coming two months. Abdi İbrahim Board Chairman Nezih Barut stated that the company has not deviated from its focus on investment and production regardless of economic conditions.
Pointing to ongoing investments of TRY 1,275 million at Abdi İbrahim facilities in Esenyurt, Nezih Barut said the company is advancing with strong determination on its growth path through new products and new manufacturing agreements signed with pharmaceutical companies in 2019.
Nezih Barut: 'Our Production Capacity Will Double'
Nezih Barut stated that the creation of additional employment opportunities is a result of planned and continuous investment capacity and strong growth targets. He said that in 2019 the company focused on manufacturing services as well as new products. Barut noted that the ongoing TRY 900 million Sterile Injectable and Oncology Manufacturing Facility will be completed in 2021, while the TRY 375 million Sterile Ophthalmology and Sterile Inhalation Manufacturing Facility investment will be completed by the end of 2019. He stated that with these investments, Abdi İbrahim's production capacity will approximately double. Barut, noting that alongside ongoing investments the company has focused on manufacturing services together with the AbdiBio biotechnology facility opened in 2018, said: "From the past to today, in the manufacturing services we have provided, we have entered a different and intensive period since 2018 also due to the effect of the Pharmaceutical Localization practice. We are signing successive manufacturing agreements with pharmaceutical companies. Examples include the agreement we made with GSK, under which we will produce sterile inhalation products (nebulisers) in BFS format at our Sterile Inhalation Manufacturing Facility. We became Allergan's production partner in Turkey. At our Sterile Ophthalmology Manufacturing Facility, we will produce eye drops in the ophthalmology field for eye health. This is extremely important as it will be Allergan's production outside its own facilities. Through these and similar agreements, we are pleased to strengthen the trust international pharmaceutical companies have in our company and to see the rapid return on our investments. We will continue to support investments and collaborations that back Turkey's claim to becoming a regional force in pharmaceuticals."Advertisement
