Abdi İbrahim, the leader of the Turkish pharmaceutical sector, has obtained a manufacturing license demonstrating its capacity to produce COVID-19 vaccines to the highest standards. Abdi İbrahim Chairman of the Board Nezih Barut stated, "This license issued by the Ministry of Health following its inspections is proof that we can produce vaccines to world standards."

Abdi İbrahim, which has been operating in the Turkish pharmaceutical sector for 109 years and has been the uninterrupted market leader for 19 years, has obtained a vaccine manufacturing and filling license demonstrating its capacity to produce vaccines developed against the COVID-19 pandemic, which has deeply affected the world and Turkey, to the highest standards.

Abdi İbrahim Chairman of the Board Nezih Barut noted that following the Ministry of Health's inspections and audits, Abdi İbrahim has been granted approval to manufacture and fill mRNA-based and inactivated vaccines, stating, "We received approval from the Ministry of Health in December for human vaccine manufacturing and filling for mRNA-based or inactivated vaccines. For vaccine manufacturing and filling, both your infrastructure and quality systems must be at a high level. With this license issued following the Ministry's inspections, our AbdiBio facility and our competence in vaccine production have been certified once again." Noting that in the fight against the pandemic, they have dedicated their R&D and production capabilities, medical expertise, and all their knowledge and experience to the service of Turkish medicine and patients, Nezih Barut spoke as follows about their vaccine manufacturing efforts: "As a sector leader company, we took into account our society's needs during this difficult period and worked to provide the contribution expected from us at the highest level.

Closely monitoring ongoing vaccine studies in the world, we applied to the Ministry of Health for permission for vaccine alternatives that would prevent the pandemic to be produced in the facilities of Abdi İbrahim, Turkey's domestic and national pharmaceutical company. Following inspections, we received a manufacturing and filling license from the Ministry of Health for mRNA-based biotechnological vaccines produced by BioNTech and Moderna, as well as inactivated vaccines produced by Russian and Chinese companies to be manufactured and filled at AbdiBio. With the license obtained, it has been proven that both our infrastructure and quality systems are at a high level."

Emphasizing that Abdi İbrahim possesses the necessary technology and infrastructure for vaccine manufacturing and filling, Barut stated, "We have made significant investments in biotechnology, which we see as the future of the pharmaceutical sector and to which we attach considerable strategic importance. AbdiBio, our biotechnological pharmaceutical manufacturing facility which we completed in 2018, is the most important step we have taken. The purpose of all our investments in the biotechnology field, including vaccine manufacturing, is to make our country a production hub for biotechnological medicines and to make Turkey one of the countries with a say in this strategic area. As Abdi İbrahim, we currently have the capacity to produce 20 million vaccines. If additional investment is needed to produce larger quantities of COVID-19 vaccine, we are ready to make this in the short term."
