Abdi İbrahim Acquires 90% of INOLIVA
Abdi İbrahim, which strengthened its position as an international player last September by acquiring a 28.5% stake in Swiss biotechnology company OM Pharma, has announced that it has now purchased a 90% stake in INOLIVA, a company operating in the consumer health sector in Turkey.
INOLIVA, founded in 2019 and which quickly established itself in the market with its innovative products, has been brought into Abdi İbrahim's portfolio. Nezih Barut, Chairman of the Board of Abdi İbrahim, stated: "Consumer health is developing rapidly worldwide. As Abdi İbrahim, we are competing with the strong brands we have created in this field. We aim to carry the success and leadership we have achieved in prescription pharmaceuticals to consumer health as well.
We are evaluating all organic and inorganic growth opportunities. This acquisition, which demonstrates our ambition in the consumer health sector, is further proof of Abdi İbrahim's 109-year commitment to investment-focused growth," he said.
Abdi İbrahim, which has been the continuous market leader in the pharmaceutical sector in Turkey for 19 years and has strengthened its position as an international player through domestic and foreign investments, has expanded its targets in the consumer health sector with this important acquisition. By acquiring a 90% stake in INOLIVA, which was founded in 2019 as a partnership between Eroğlu Holding and Eczacı Şevket Kaya, Abdi İbrahim has added a new investment to the consumer health sector, which it has identified as one of five growth areas.
Founded in February 2019, INOLIVA quickly gained recognition in the consumer health market with the flagship brand Lipozone, which maximizes bioavailability and efficacy, as well as its brands Çinkopast and Hepoliva. With the acquisition, Abdi İbrahim becomes a 90% shareholder in the company, while Eczacı Şevket Kaya retained its 10% stake. As the continuous market leader in the Turkish pharmaceutical sector for 19 years, Abdi İbrahim will fully support INOLIVA, which it has identified as one of its priority areas within its VISION 2025 growth strategy, to become the market-leading company in the consumer health sector.
Nezih Barut, Chairman of the Board of Abdi İbrahim, continued his remarks: "For 109 years, regardless of conditions, we have invested in confidence in our country's and our sector's future. We take pride in leading our sector through our production capacity, employment, exports and research and development efforts," he said.
Emphasizing that they are pursuing all organic and inorganic growth opportunities in their target areas both domestically and abroad, Nezih Barut continued: "Last year, during the most challenging periods of the pandemic, we made an important move to demonstrate our commitment in the biotechnology field to the entire world, and by acquiring a 28.5% stake in Swiss OM Pharma, we became the first Turkish pharmaceutical company to be a strategic partner to a Western pharmaceutical company. Now, exactly one year later, we have acquired INOLIVA, a very young company that demonstrates our growth aspirations in the consumer health sector and which, in my view, has created significant differentiation in the market in a short time through its strategy and product range.
Our investment will allow us to move faster towards our international goals in the consumer health sector. Our INOLIVA investment, just as with OM Pharma, is not merely an acquisition operation, but a new confirmation of our confidence in the development and growth potential of the Turkish pharmaceutical sector."
We Want to Be an International Player in Consumer Health as Well
Recalling that Abdi İbrahim has created strong brands in the consumer health sector with YouPlus, Umca, Hametol and Probest, Nezih Barut said that INOLIVA's current portfolio, vision and business approach align with Abdi İbrahim's sustainability and innovation-focused vision. Noting that trends in healthy aging and holistic well-being are becoming more widespread and that preventive, functional and holistic medical practices are increasingly part of our lives, Nezih Barut stated: "Consumer health products are leading growth in the health sector. We are a growth-oriented company and consumer health is one of our 5 main growth pillars in our 2025 vision. We will continue our investments in this area with determination," he said. Emphasizing that they will relocate INOLIVA product manufacturing to Abdi İbrahim facilities to increase local production, Nezih Barut expressed that they will accelerate product development work and, by combining Abdi İbrahim's business development expertise with the company's entrepreneurial spirit, will bring innovative solutions addressing market needs and a new product range to consumers. Nezih Barut concluded: "We want to carry our clear market leadership in prescription pharmaceuticals to consumer health and become an international player in consumer health as well. This move is a sign of our determination and commitment on this path, and steps that will reinforce our expertise. As Abdi İbrahim, we believe that INOLIVA products will play an important role in achieving our growth targets with innovative and strong brands in the European countries where we are planning entry strategies."Advertisement
