Abdi İbrahim CEO Joins Supporters of the Water Mandate

Abdi İbrahim, a pioneer in sustainability, has joined an important declaration through its water efficiency work. The company has become a supporter of CEO Water Mandate, a United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) initiative, marking it as the first Turkish pharmaceutical company to achieve this status.

For 108 years, Abdi İbrahim has continued its work without losing its passion for "improvement," contributing to millions of people living better and happier lives every day. The company has now taken an important step toward "improving" the future and the world by joining the signatories of CEO Water Mandate, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact. It has thus become the first Turkish pharmaceutical company to join the supporters of CEO Water Mandate. Leading its sector in this area as well, Abdi İbrahim is now supporting sustainable water policies and practices on a global scale through a formal commitment by joining the CEO Water Mandate supporters. The company has prepared its water usage values according to criteria approved by the Water Mandate initiative and will report on them annually. Through this declaration, Abdi İbrahim, now a stakeholder in this important international water initiative, will support water protection policies that are simultaneously conducted worldwide through the company's commitments. Oğuzcan Bülbül, Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Abdi İbrahim, commented on the matter: "Ensuring the sustainability of water resources, an indispensable natural resource for all living beings, has become a major responsibility for companies. Protecting water, one of the most precious legacies for future generations, is everyone's duty. As Abdi İbrahim, we pursue a holistic strategy with this sense of responsibility. Reducing water consumption through effective recovery methods, which is among the main performance criteria of our Sustainability Report, is of great importance to us. Within this scope, water savings of 46,524 m³ were achieved between 2012-2016. In 2017, with an increase in campaign numbers for certain products and a reduction in microbiological tests at 7 water points, 47 m³ was saved. In 2018, through a reduction in the annual production number of certain products, savings increased by 1,050 m³, bringing the total to 47,621 m³. As part of our awareness of water efficiency, we are proud to be the first Turkish pharmaceutical company to be among the signatories of CEO Water Mandate, an initiative of the United Nations Global Compact. With this step, we will also support water protection policies on a global scale. We believe this initiative will provide us with important support on water management. We hope it will serve as an example for our sector."
