Abdi İbrahim to Manufacture Drug Recommended for COVID-19 Treatment

Abdi İbrahim has completed production of the first batch of one of its medicines, which research has shown to deliver positive results against COVID-19, and delivered it to the Ministry of Health. Abdi İbrahim Chairman of the Board Nezih Barut said, "As Turkey's largest pharmaceutical company with 100 percent domestic capital, we have operated for 108 years guided by our mission to improve life. In this challenging period we are facing, we have provided full support to the epidemic response mobilization led by our Ministry of Health, deploying all our resources. We have produced the first batch of one of our medicines included in the Ministry of Health's COVID-19 treatment protocols and delivered it to the Ministry."

Will donate all production through year-end

Barut announced that they will donate to the Ministry all production through year-end, including 1,600,000 tablets to be manufactured in April, stating, "Our greatest hope is that this medicine will support the dedicated efforts of our doctors, pharmacists, nurses and all healthcare workers who work day and night with unwavering commitment for the health of our people."

Abdi İbrahim Chairman of the Board Nezih Barut said, "As the sole domestic producer in Turkey of the medicine included in COVID-19's treatment protocol, we face very high global demand for the raw material. With the support provided to us in the field by our Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Commerce, we immediately secured supply, completed production of the first batch and delivered it to the Ministry of Health. We will donate all production of this medicine through year-end in service of Turkish medicine. Creating value for our patients and healthcare workers in the fight against the epidemic is our greatest hope," he said. Noting that the world and Turkey face an epidemic without prior experience, and that societies and institutions are undergoing a difficult test, Barut stated: "Throughout human history, epidemic diseases in every period have caused serious loss of life. In our time, we continue to encounter unexpected new epidemics. We are closely following developments regarding COVID-19, which initially emerged in China and subsequently began spreading rapidly throughout many countries of the world. Against concerning developments related to the said epidemic, our government and Ministry of Health are mounting an important response. It is of great importance that we all comply with the measures taken under the coordination of our Ministry of Health, and particularly with the recommendations to stay home."

Noting that they expect the medicine, which is included among the primary treatment recommendations in the Ministry of Health's treatment protocol, to make a strong contribution in fighting the virus alongside other treatments, Barut stated, "As Abdi İbrahim, we act guided by our mission to improve life, conscious of our responsibilities.
