Abdi İbrahim Brings a Highly Special Project to Life

As part of its HEAL2030 sustainability strategy, Abdi İbrahim has launched a special project aimed at localizing the pharmaceutical supply chain. Sustainability Steps Association (SADE) has partnered with Abdi İbrahim on the 'ODAK' project; while addressing supply chain challenges, the initiative will deliver direct added value to the national economy and pharmaceutical sector by reducing the current account deficit, supporting sustainable pharmaceutical production, keeping domestic capital within the country, shortening delivery times and supporting suppliers' international expansion. Abdi İbrahim, uninterrupted leader of the Turkish pharmaceutical sector for 21 years, has launched a new project under its HEAL2030 sustainability strategy aimed at increasing the share of local suppliers in the company's procurement operations. Through the project implemented in collaboration with the Sustainability Steps Association (SADE), Abdi İbrahim aims to achieve 'localization of the supply chain' by sourcing pharmaceutical production inputs from domestic suppliers rather than importing them. The ODAK project aims to prevent supply chain disruptions similar to those caused during the pandemic and to enable easy resolution of potential difficulties. Target: reduce import dependency and support sustainable pharmaceutical production Through the ODAK Project, Abdi İbrahim aims to reduce import dependency in the sector and raise awareness about contributing directly to the national economy by increasing productivity. Among the many benefits the project will bring to the pharmaceutical sector is its provision of a mechanism supporting sustainable pharmaceutical production. Additionally, the project is expected to create significant opportunities including retaining domestic capital within the country, cost advantages, shorter delivery times, increased access to rapid maintenance and technical support, proper product procurement and support for suppliers' international expansion. Among the product categories that Abdi İbrahim has already localized and will localize under the ODAK project are chemicals and reagents, pharmaceutical excipients, machinery and equipment, spare parts, laboratory instruments and consumables—spanning six categories with numerous products. Abdi İbrahim Procurement Director Ufuk Güler, who emphasized the importance placed on producing imported products from domestic sources, made the following comments on the matter: "As a company that has been operating for 111 years with the goal of improving lives, we have long pursued a strategy that prioritizes local procurement in product, machinery, service, chemical and equipment purchases.
