Major Investment from Ulusoy Un Ulusoy Un continues its investment drive. Following its acquisition of the Söke facility in 2022, which made significant impact, Ulusoy Un has purchased a new flour mill in Hatay Antakya Organized Industrial Zone. With this acquisition, Ulusoy Un's factory count has risen to 5, while total production capacity increased from 3,925 tons/day to 4,200 tons/day. The facility's operationalization is expected to contribute to economic development and employment in the earthquake-affected region. Having acquired Söke in 2022 and closing that year with sales revenue of TRY 20.4 billion, Ulusoy Un has now realized a new mill investment in the earthquake region. Ulusoy Un purchased a flour mill on 5,095 square meters of land with 275 tons/day grinding capacity, registered under Plot 3, Block 113 in Şenbük Neighborhood, Belen District of Hatay Province, located in Hatay Antakya Organized Industrial Zone, for a total consideration of TRY 14,350,000. A storage facility on 5,091 square meters of land registered under Plot 4, Block 113 was purchased for a total consideration of TRY 5,000,000. The facility, covering a total area of 10,186 square meters with 6,880 square meters of enclosed space, is currently non-operational. A Rapid Building Health Monitoring (QSHM) report was obtained regarding any damage from the earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş, and full structural inspection confirmed the property to be undamaged. Following renovation works aimed at capacity expansion and technology modernization, the facility is planned to commence operations in the third quarter of 2023. The facility's activation is expected to increase employment and contribute to economic development in the earthquake-affected region. Speaking on the matter, Ulusoy Un Board Chairman Dr. Eren Günhan Ulusoy stated: "Ulusoy Un is a company that exports to 92 countries today and serves the food security not only of Turkey but of the entire world. Our company continues to grow with its new initiatives. With 2,085 tons/day in Samsun and 400 tons/day in Çorlu, totaling 2,485 tons/day, and as a result of acquiring shares in Söke Değirmencilik San. and Tic. A.Ş. in 2022, adding the 1,440 tons/day capacity of our Aydın and Ankara facilities, our total production capacity had reached 3,925 tons/day. With this new acquisition, our total production capacity has reached 4,200 tons/day, and we will continue to maintain our position as Turkey's by far largest flour producer. Through this acquisition, we aim to leverage the ports in the Mersin, Adana, and İskenderun regions for raw material sourcing to gain cost advantages, and to increase our export tonnage thanks to proximity to our country's southern neighbors. With the facility's commencement of production, our company will gain access to more cost-effective transportation to the domestic market in Turkey's southern and southeastern regions. Thus, with our factories located in 5 separate regions within our company, we will achieve active production capacity that extends our sales throughout all regions of Turkey." Ulusoy Un, which solidified its position in research on Turkey's largest companies for 2021, ranked as Turkey's 323rd largest exporter according to TİM1000, 71st according to the Fortune 500 list, and 86th largest company in Turkey according to the Capital500 survey.
