International Congress on Molecular Plant Protection Begins HEKTAŞ has launched the 2nd International Congress on Molecular Plant Protection (IMPPC2023) at its Agricultural Innovation, Education and Experience Centre F.A.R.M. in Bursa-Orhangazi, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and Ankara University. The congress brought together 81 leading scientists from around the world to address the future of global agriculture, sustainability and new agricultural practices. Hosted by HEKTAŞ at an international-scale event where the future of sustainable agriculture will be discussed, the 2nd International Congress on Molecular Plant Protection (IMPPC2023) at the Agricultural Innovation, Education and Experience Centre F.A.R.M. in Bursa-Orhangazi started today and will continue until the 18th of the month. The four-day event, attended by 81 scientists from 20 countries as invited speakers, was opened by M. Levent Ortakçıer, Head of OYAK Food, Agriculture and Livestock Sector Group and Chairman of HEKTAŞ Board of Directors, as the congress host. The opening lecture was delivered by Craig Mello, a US biology professor who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2006 for his studies on RNA interactions.

"The future of agriculture lies not in the fields, but in science"

OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem expressed pride in hosting an international event at F.A.R.M., one of the world's notable R&D centres that HEKTAŞ has brought to Turkey. Noting that awareness of sustainable agriculture and food security has increased globally in recent years, Erdem continued: "Through the work we began by repositioning HEKTAŞ, we have brought Turkey a company that pioneers and implements innovative agricultural practices. With the approach we have developed over the past seven years and our strategic moves in this direction, HEKTAŞ has pioneered the 'Agriculture 4.0' transformation and today is shaping 'Agriculture 5.0'. With HEKTAŞ, we are preparing not only today's but also tomorrow's projects and farmers. We believe that at the congress we are hosting, expert scientists in their fields will redirect plant protection strategies. This congress will be a milestone in innovation and R&D work in plant protection."

In his opening remarks at the congress, Levent Ortakçıer emphasized that through the strategic importance OYAK General Manager Süleyman Savaş Erdem places on sustainable agriculture and food, HEKTAŞ has become one of Turkey's most important agricultural companies opening onto the world. Ortakçıer stated: "We are working to develop Turkish agriculture and bring it to a level that will set an example for the world. We are pleased and proud to host such an important event concerning the future of the agricultural sector.
