Ülker Named the Only Turkish Company on the International Stage

Ülker has become the only Turkish food company included in the S&P Global ESG 2021 Index, which evaluates the sustainability performance of companies from around the world. Among the 37 companies from Turkey in different sectors included in the index, it managed to rank in the top three. Ülker continued to increase its score this year in the ESG 2021 Index (Environmental, Social & Governance), which is conducted by international rating agency S&P Global and evaluates over 1,000 companies worldwide. Ülker, which has attracted attention in recent years through its sustainability projects, managed to rank in the top three among 37 companies from Turkey in different sectors included in the index. In the food sector, it was the only food company from Turkey evaluated. Among 115 food companies worldwide included in the study, Ülker achieved a score that placed it in the top 6 percent.     Ülker CEO Mete Buyurgan stated that their successful performance in sustainability projects has been confirmed once again with the progress in the S&P Global ESG Index 2021. Buyurgan continued: "At Ülker, the principle of being a 'waste-free company' is at the center of all our operations. Since 2014, we have been growing without an increase in carbon emissions. By consistently increasing our score year after year in the S&P Global ESG Index, we have become the only food company evaluated from Turkey. Ülker's sustainability achievements in the last year:

• It represented Turkey in 5 categories as the only Turkish company to reach the finals in the 2022 edie Sustainability Leaders Awards, which is considered among the world's most prestigious platforms in its field.
• Ülker was included among the top 631 companies on the list prepared by S&P Global within the scope of Corporate Sustainability Assessment (The Sustainability Yearbook 2021), which lists companies with the best environmental, social and governance performance in their sectors, evaluated across 7,000 companies in 61 sectors worldwide. It also achieved the distinction of being the first and only Turkish company among global top 20 companies in the food products category.
• According to the results of the Carbon Transparency Project (CDP-Climate Disclosure Project) 2021 Climate Change and Water Security program, an international environmental reporting platform, Ülker maintained its score this year with its work on climate change. It increased the per-unit water reduction rate from 2014, exceeding the target of 30 percent to 35.4 percent in 2020. Thanks to its innovative work in this area, it raised its water security score by one level to B- rating.
• In the 8th Sustainable Business Awards held by the Sustainability Academy in Turkey, it won first place in the Water Management Category with its "Sustainable Water Management" model.
