Ülker deploys 20 autonomous mobile robots at facility through digital transformation

Ülker has invested in new technology at its Gebze facility, deploying 20 autonomous mobile robots tailored to the factory's infrastructure. These robots will handle raw material and supply logistics within the facility.

Retrieves Materials from Warehouse and Delivers to Designated Points

The robots, capable of transporting 2,600 different material types, operate based on requests entered into the system by facility operators. Once demand is registered, the robots retrieve materials from the warehouse and deliver them to specified locations.

Capable of 150 Trips and 53 Kilometres per Day

Each robot communicates with 6 elevators and 32 doors, performing a total of 150 trips and covering 53 kilometres per day. The robots operate along a 2-kilometre route spanning the dough preparation area, oven and packaging sections of the facility. After completing an assigned task, the robots immediately take on new tasks on the same route if available. If there are no pending tasks, the robots return to their charging station. Mete Buyurgan, CEO of Ülker, commented on the new investment, noting that the company effectively integrates digitalisation and technology at every stage of its business processes.

"We have achieved significant progress in efficiency, process simplification, acceleration, cost control and sustainability"

Buyurgan stated that the 20 autonomous mobile robots, developed specifically for the factory as a result of collaboration between Arçelik and SK Robotik, have been deployed. "With the robots, we have achieved significant progress in efficiency, process simplification, acceleration, cost control and sustainability. In the coming period, we will continue to integrate similar technologies into our production infrastructure and pursue our investments in line with our operational excellence objectives at Ülker. The rapid advancement of digital technologies keeps digital transformation high on the business agenda," he said.

Will accelerate digitalisation projects

Buyurgan further noted: "We are closely following technology, particularly IoT and Industry 4.0. We closely monitor supply chain processes end-to-end, as well as consumer behaviour and trends. Through our IoT system, we monitor production processes in real time using PLC devices and sensors in production machinery at our Gebze facility and take necessary action. We will continue to accelerate our digitalisation projects going forward," he stated. Source
