Turkish food exporters aim to achieve their USD 1.5 billion export target in the United States market by focusing on digital marketing. Designating the United States—the world's largest food importer with an annual import volume of USD 160 billion—as a 'Target Market', the Turkish food sector will participate digitally with 10 companies in the Specialty Food Live 2021 Fair, which will be held online on 10-14 May 2021. At the fair, for which Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri has undertaken the Turkey National Participation Organisation, Turkish companies will introduce Turkish food products to importers from around the world.   Stating that Turkey exported USD 970 million worth of food products to the United States in 2020, Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri Coordinator Chairman Jak Eskinazi noted that they have decided to participate in the Specialty Food Live 2021 Fair to further strengthen their position in the US market.   Recalling that they have organised the Turkey National Participation for the Summer Fancy Food Show Fair held in New York/USA for approximately 25 years, Eskinazi said: "This year, due to the pandemic, we were unable to organise the physical fair. We want to maintain our presence in the US market by participating digitally in the Specialty Food Live 2021 Fair. Our 10 companies will promote Turkish food products at this fair. We will continue our promotional and marketing activities to increase our food product exports in the US market from the current level of USD 970 million to USD 1.5 billion."

TURQUALITY Project progressing successfully

Stating that the TURQUALITY Project, in which 6 food associations within Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri have joined forces to more effectively promote Turkish food products in the US market, is progressing successfully, Ege İhracatçı Birlikleri Coordinator Vice Chairman Birol Celep noted that they have ensured Turkish cuisine is included as a course in the curriculum of Las Vegas University William F. Harrah School of Hotel Administration. Explaining that they have conducted "Hybrid Tasting Events" introducing Turkish flavours to American buyers and chefs, Celep said: "We did not pause our promotional activities due to the pandemic. We have organised 'Hybrid Tasting Events' aimed at buyers and chefs who are decision-makers in food sector procurement processes in the sectors of aquatic products and animal products, dried fruit, olives and olive oil, fruit and vegetable products, cereals, legumes and oilseeds. In the last week of April, we hosted a group of influencers in İzmir. We will continue our efforts to increase the preference for Turkish food products in the US market."
