Environmental Sustainability in the Dairy Sector World Milk Day, celebrated every 1 June under the leadership of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), aims to raise awareness about the importance of milk for human health, its impact on social life and its contributions to the economy. In this context, the theme of World Milk Day 2023 was determined as "Economic, social and environmental sustainability of the dairy sector". The International Dairy Federation (IDF), which is the sector's representative organisation, draws attention to the unlimited opportunities the dairy sector provides for human nutrition while safeguarding the sustainability of nature, society and animal production. Sütaş Board Chairman Muharrem Yılmaz, making a statement on the occasion of World Milk Day: "As you know, milk is our most fundamental food, containing the nutrients necessary for us to lead a healthy life in a naturally perfect balance. At a time when concerns about food security are increasing, the role of milk and dairy products in feeding the world's growing population is becoming increasingly important. As Sütaş, with our "Farm to Table" integrated business model, we cover the entire milk value chain, increasing our production and productivity while guaranteeing the naturalness, taste and nutritional value of our products. Furthermore, our business model, which extends from plant production to manure and energy production, creates a unique and exemplary sustainability model with environmental, social and economic dimensions. We produce our energy from the manure of our farms and the organic waste of our factories, we recycle our water, we protect and restore our soil with the organic fertilisers we produce," he said. Drawing attention to the socio-economic impact of dairy farming, Muharrem Yılmaz continued: "In every region where we invest, alongside milk and dairy product factories, we also establish breeding farms, feed mills, energy and fertiliser facilities. Our integrated business model makes significant contributions to the development of the regions where we operate." Saying "We focus solely on dairy farming and we are passionate about our work," Yılmaz concluded: "World Milk Day is our celebration. From now on, we will continue to spread the goodness and abundance of milk, contribute to the health and happiness of our consumers with our natural flavours, and contribute to the development and prosperity of our country through our investments.
