Sustainable Food Summit to be held on 17-18 October

9th Sustainable Food Summit Scheduled for 17-18 October Türkiye Gıda Sanayii İşverenleri Sendikası (TÜGİS) and the Sustainability Academy will hold the 9th edition of the Sustainable Food Summit, which brings together all stakeholders in the food sector, on 17-18 October this year. The summit, to be held with the support of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization FAO, will bring together leading figures from Turkey and around the world, including government officials, industry leaders, brand representatives, universities and civil society organizations. This year's summit will be held under the theme "Water is Life, Water is Food – Leave No One Behind." The Sustainable Food Summit, jointly organized by Türkiye Gıda Sanayii İşverenleri Sendikası (TÜGİS) and the Sustainability Academy, continues in its 9th year to bring together all stakeholders in the sector to address the future of food. This year's summit, held under the theme "Water is Life, Water is Food – Leave No One Behind," will take place on 17-18 October with the support of the Republic of Turkey Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). All stakeholders in the food sector will once again exchange views at the summit on important agenda topics ranging from climate change to food economics. All food transformation leaders, including representatives from the food industry and suppliers, start-ups and HORECA professionals, will come together at the summit with the goal of positively changing the foods of the future. In addition to the business world, national and international experts from the public, scientific and civil society sectors will also have their place at the summit. Strengthened by sponsorship from leading companies in the sector, this year's summit will be held in person on the first day and online on the second day. Participants who wish may purchase tickets to attend the in-person event, while the event will be available online for both days.

Bringing all stakeholders together

Kaan Sidar, Chairman of the Board of Türkiye Gıda Sanayii İşverenleri Sendikası (TÜGİS), one of the hosts of the event, commented on the ninth summit: "Food is the most basic necessity for the continuation of human life. During pandemics, natural disasters and periods of crisis, we see once again the importance of food sustainability from production to supply. At this point, we always emphasize the need for all stakeholders to come together with a holistic perspective.
