Health Literacy and Education Conference to Be Held on 11 February

Scientists to Discuss the Importance of Health Literacy Education The International Conference on Nutrition, Health Literacy and Education, to be organized by Sabri Ülker Vakfı, will take place on 11 February with the participation of experts from Turkey and abroad. Based on the findings of the Turkey Health Literacy (SOY) Research, which shows that more than half of the population is inadequate in obtaining health-related information from communication channels, the conference will raise awareness by discussing the dimensions of media literacy and the education system needed for better health. Sabri Ülker Vakfı is adding another awareness project that draws attention to the importance of scientific knowledge on food, nutrition and health matters in society. The International Conference on Nutrition, Health Literacy and Education will address the importance of health communication in improving health, protecting it and maintaining good health status, assess the situation from experts in the field and bring together their suggestions for solutions. The e-conference, which will host national and international scientists, will discuss how progress can be made on important points such as information acquisition during the pandemic period, assimilating acquired information and being able to distinguish the scientific validity of this information, and how scientific knowledge should be communicated, particularly with our children. The conference will also gain dimension with speakers who focus on the foundations of healthy nutrition, sharing recommendations and recent studies in this direction.

Public health to be evaluated on an education axis

The pandemic period was a time when new experiences and needs emerged in education as well as many sectors. In this context, public health and nutrition, health literacy and education issues stood out as part of the lifelong learning process. Accessing information sources for health protection and improvement, reading and understanding information and making correct decisions in the light of this information is only possible through health literacy. The International Conference on Nutrition, Health Literacy and Education, which will be held on Thursday, 11 February with expert scientists in their fields as speakers, will address the concepts of education, health literacy and nutrition with an interdisciplinary approach. Particularly the concepts that have taken on much greater importance after the pandemic will be addressed comprehensively.
