PepsiCo Publishes 2024 ESG Summary on pep+ Sustainability and Nutrition Goals

PepsiCo, one of the world's leading food and beverage companies, has released its 2024 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Summary Report outlining the company's commitments to sustainability and nutrition. Prepared within the framework of the company's comprehensive transformation program pep+ (PepsiCo Positive), the report demonstrates progress in climate, agriculture, water, packaging and nutrition, while highlighting that PepsiCo has reached two nutrition targets ahead of schedule.

Key Highlights from the 2024 ESG Summary
Agriculture: Regenerative agriculture practices were expanded across 3.5 million hectares. By 2030, this figure is targeted to reach 10 million hectares.

• Climate: 89% of global electricity needs were sourced from renewable resources. Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions were reduced by 18%.
• Water: 75% of water used in high-risk regions was replenished. Since 2006, safe water access has been provided to more than 96 million people.
• Packaging: Between 2023–2024, raw plastic tonnage was reduced by 5%; primary packaging contains 15% recycled plastic.
• Nutrition: Sugar and sodium reduction targets were exceeded one year ahead of schedule. 67% of the beverage portfolio contains less than 100 calories of added sugar per 12-ounce serving, and 77% of the ready-to-eat food portfolio meets established sodium criteria.
