Pandemic and Child Mental Health The 2nd International Nutrition, Health Literacy and Education Conference, organized by Sabri Ülker Foundation, will take place on 11 February with the participation of expert names from Turkey and abroad. The changes the pandemic has brought into our lives, particularly its destructive effects on children, determined this year's conference theme as "Protecting Child Wellbeing During the Pandemic Period." Sabri Ülker Foundation continues to implement sustainable projects with the aim of contributing to the future of public health and delivering accurate and up-to-date information on nutrition, food, and healthy living from reliable sources to all segments of society. At the 2nd International Nutrition, Health Literacy and Education Conference organized by the Foundation, this year experts will discuss children's education process during the pandemic, how child mental health should be supported, the negative effects on health and wellbeing, ways of coping with and protecting against difficulties.

Ways to Protect Both Mental and Physical Health in Children

The pandemic, which has been part of our lives for over two years, can cause psychological negative effects in children. During this period, the changing social environment brings serious and destructive consequences. At the 2nd International Nutrition, Health Literacy and Education Conference, solution proposals to the changes the pandemic has created in social life will be addressed holistically. In the hybrid format conference where national and international scientists will be guests, topics such as how the pandemic has changed school curricula in Turkey and some foreign countries, how to be a digital parent during the digital transformation process, how children's immune systems will be affected in the pandemic and post-pandemic period, and the negative effects of increased computer, television and mobile phone use in children on eye health will be discussed. Scientific analyses regarding individual differences of students and learning processes that emerged with the pandemic, measures and recommendations that can be taken to ensure children are minimally affected by this process will be shared by experts.

As speakers at the Conference, Prof. Dr. Hünkar Korkmaz from Hacettepe University Department of Educational Sciences, Süleyman Sadi Seferoğlu from Hacettepe University Department of Computer and Instructional Technology Education, Prof. Hilal Özcebe from Hacettepe Medical Faculty Department of Public Health, Prof. Dr. Didem Şöhretoğlu from Hacettepe University Department of Pharmacy Professional Sciences, Prof. Alicia Sianes-Bautista from Extramadura University Educational Sciences, Jacqui Southey, Director of Child Rights Advocacy and Research from New Zealand, Dr. Anita Lawrence from University of Melbourne Department of Nutrition, İdil Aksöz Efe from Chaplaincy Health Care, Ayça Demirel Koçer, Education Specialist from Üsküdar American College, Dr. Seyda Subaşı Singh from University of Vienna Department of Education, Dr. Oğul Üner from Casey Eye Institute Department of Ophthalmology, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülşah Batdal Karaduman from Istanbul Cerrahpaşa University will participate. Faculty Member Ece Varlık Özsoy from Akdeniz University will moderate the panel.
