Nestlé Launches New Project
Nestlé, operating in 186 countries worldwide, works to unlock the power of food to improve the quality of life for today's and future generations within the framework of "Creating Shared Value." The company, which extends its sustainability approach to all areas of life through employee volunteer activities, is increasing collaborations in line with "Partnerships for the Goals," one of the 17 sustainable development goals of the United Nations Global Compact.
In this regard, Nestlé Türkiye continues to develop projects through the Help Steps application, which converts steps into good deeds. With a new campaign launched on World Day under the leadership of the Nestlé Cares Employee Volunteer Club, Nestlé aims to increase the 160 million steps reached in the previous campaign. Under the scope of the new project being implemented, volunteer steps taken will support the activities of Food Rescue Association, which prevents food waste and delivers surplus food to those in need. The campaign, which can also be joined by volunteers from outside the company, will start on 22 April and continue for three months. The Food Rescue Association will be featured in the Help Steps application through a project being launched for the first time with Nestlé Türkiye's support.
Zeynep Sungu, Marketing and Corporate Communications Director at Nestlé Türkiye, stated: "Within the framework of our Creating Shared Value approach, we continue our work that will create benefits for our planet. Given the circumstances of our time, we have discovered new ways to bring our support activities into the digital space with our Nestlé Cares Employee Volunteer Club. In this direction, we have become one of the strongest corporate supporters of Help Steps. Through our first jointly implemented project, we led the donation of 160 million steps to the World Day Foundation. In our new campaign, we will take our steps again for the Food Rescue Association, which will be featured in the application for the first time. We are pleased to share this good news on World Day.
In the campaign, which Nestlé Türkiye employees and all users can support, the accumulated steps will be used to support the work of the Food Rescue Association, sister organization of the social technology startup Fazla Gıda, which we already collaborate with. As the first brand partnership to support the application, I believe this approach of ours will be a guide for our entire sector. I celebrate World Day, which is the product of important awareness and draws attention to the problems our planet faces. I am very grateful to our Volunteer Club, which brings goodness and solidarity to every moment of life, and to everyone who will support goodness with their steps," he said.
Berat İnci, President of Food Rescue Association, expressed his thoughts as follows: "Our fight to prevent food waste is for the health and future of our planet. As the Food Rescue Association, our aim is to prevent food waste, enable sustainable living for all living things on Earth, and contribute to climate action and the fight against hunger. On World Day 2021, which we celebrate with the main theme 'Restore Our Earth,' I find every step we will take with Nestlé Türkiye to reclaim our planet very meaningful. The witness of Help Steps on this journey we have started for the future of our planet will also be exciting for us. I sincerely thank everyone who will support us with their steps on this journey we have started for the future of our planet and celebrate our World Day," he said.
