Lipton to Invest in New Turkish Factory
Lipton, which continues its investments in Turkey, one of its most important markets, held a groundbreaking ceremony for its new factory in Arifiye, Sakarya. The project, with a total investment of approximately TRY 500 million, is planned to be completed next year.
Lipton, one of Turkey's most consumed tea brands, added a new factory to its investments in Turkey aimed at local development, following its Pazar and Fındıklı facilities. A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the tea packaging factory being built on a 24-hectare plot in Arifiye, Sakarya, with 15,000 square meters of enclosed space.
At the ceremony, attended by Lipton Turkey General Manager Fatih Atay and Lipton Turkey Supply Chain Director Alptuğ Yıldırım, the brand's position in the global tea market and the strength of tea culture were emphasized, with Turkey noted as an important market for the brand. The brand's new Sakarya factory, expected to have an annual production capacity of 25,000 tons, is planned to begin production in June 2024. The project, with a total investment of TRY 500 million and to be carried out in two phases, will employ 130 people in the first phase and 180 people in the second phase in Sakarya province and surrounding areas.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lipton Turkey General Manager Fatih Atay said: "Since 1986, we have been one of Turkey's most beloved tea brands. Since then, we have worked to protect Turkish tea and the unique nature of the Black Sea region, ensure the sustainability of local tea production and local development, and carry forward Turkish tea culture and the values of unity and communication it represents to the future. With our new factory in Arifiye, Sakarya, we will continue to contribute to the regional economy, employment, and the development of tea farming," he said. Lipton Turkey Supply Chain Director Alptuğ Yıldırım said: "We aim to bring our brand's 130 years of tea expertise together with the unique teas produced on our country's soil and grow with all our stakeholders. With our Sakarya factory, we will continue to create value for the region." he said.
