Limkon Lays Foundation for Massive Investment Project The foundation stone was laid for Limkon's second facility planned in the Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone in Adana, with Agriculture and Forest Minister Vahit Kirişçi in attendance. With the new facility to be operational within 6 months through a total investment of TRY 200 million, the region will create contracted employment opportunities for 5,000 new workers, the majority of whom will be women. Additionally, the arable area for tomato production will increase to 7,000 decares.
At the foundation stone ceremony for Limkon's new investment, Limak Holding Honorary Chairman Nihat Özdemir made the following statement on the matter:
"Since the day Limak Companies Group was founded, we have made it our mission—as we do in all sectors in which we operate—to provide a more sustainable working environment in the food sector and create higher added value for our country, our nation, our environment, our employees and all our stakeholders. I would particularly like to emphasize that at our factory, which operates according to the 'zero waste' principle, we have taken all environmental measures in accordance with standards. With the new investment we are undertaking, we aim to create more sustainable employment opportunities for the farmers we have worked with for a long time and to further strengthen our position in exports through this ecosystem." At the ceremony, the opening of the 1.8 MW solar panels installed on the roof for the facility to generate its own energy was also conducted by Agriculture and Forest Minister Vahit Kirişçi. The solar panels, which cost approximately TRY 20 million and will generate 2.8 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, will meet 40 percent of the facility's electricity needs.   Limkon Food Industry and Trade Inc., a Limak Holding company, began factory construction in April 2007 with the purpose of processing fruit juice concentrate, fruit puree, tomato paste and all types of fruit-based products, completing the construction and becoming operational within a short period of approximately 7 months. The factory was constructed on a total area of 40,000 square meters with 14,000 square meters of enclosed space in the Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone in Adana. Located 100 km from Mersin Port and 105 km from İskenderun Port, the facility benefits from its proximity to regions where many varieties of fruit are grown.
