Komili Establishes Olive and Olive Oil Institute
Under the cooperation between Bunge Gıda Türkiye and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Komili Olive Oil has begun work on establishing the "Komili Olive and Olive Oil Institute" in Ayvalık under EBRD sponsorship.
Within the framework of cooperation between Bunge Gıda Türkiye and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the field of sustainability projects, the "Komili Olive and Olive Oil Institute" has begun establishment work with EBRD sponsorship and will be opened in Ayvalık.
The Komili Olive and Olive Oil Institute will serve three primary objectives: training women olive farmers, teaching climate-friendly, sustainable and efficient farming practices, and supporting organic olive production.
I firmly believe that women's labor must be placed at the center for communities to develop and succeed, and with this conviction, I am very excited about the "Komili Olive and Olive Oil Institute" we will establish to support women farmers and aspiring farmers in preserving what is natural, said Turgut Yeğenağa, Country Leader at Bunge Türkiye, adding: "At Komili, we continue our work with the mission of preserving what is natural and ensuring it remains natural. With the experience, accumulated knowledge and expertise we have built since 1878, we bring the highest quality olive oil we produce to those who love it. Now we are pleased to bring another first to life, because the institute we have long wanted to establish for the future of olive oil and its culture is now becoming a reality.
This is very important, because when this institute is established, women farmers in the Aegean Region will have increased access to modern agricultural techniques in the areas of olive tree cultivation and maintenance, and through training from instructors with the highest level of knowledge, they will be able to add to their existing knowledge.
Another important mission of this institute is what I believe will be our only way forward in addressing the climate crisis we are fighting worldwide; taking steps in the light of science toward sustainable and climate-friendly agriculture. Additionally, we will implement work at our institute on organic olive cultivation and production.
Having an international organization of importance like the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) by our side is also very valuable. I wish the Komili Olive and Olive Oil Institute, whose establishment work we have begun with great faith and enthusiasm, will sign important work for the future of our country, and I extend my gratitude to everyone who has contributed and will contribute to the Komili Olive and Olive Oil Institute, especially the EBRD.
