What Is Blood Type-Based Nutrition?

Nutrition, health, weight and beauty have become increasingly prominent in today's changing world. This is why new diets with different names appear every year. We cannot tell which ones are healthy and which are not. One of them is blood type-based nutrition. Dyt. Fatih Bıçaklar, an expert from DoktorTakvimi.com, explains the questions about this type of nutrition.

Blood type-based nutrition emerged in the early 1900s and has maintained its popularity despite the years passing. For many people, blood type-based nutrition is seen as a diet method used for weight loss. But what exactly is blood type-based nutrition? Does it help with weight loss? Dyt. Fatih Bıçaklar, an expert from DoktorTakvimi.com, answers these questions. Emphasizing that nutrition is a constantly changing and evolving action since human existence, yet indispensable for human survival, Dyt. Bıçaklar stated: "In human evolution from hunter-gatherers to fire-making, then to tool production and agriculture, to settled life, nutrition also changed. Because humans could not wait for grains to mature while farming, they learned to store food for long periods. By domesticating legumes and grains, they ensured sustainability. Thus, we were no longer dependent only on vegetables that were available only in season and could not be stored for long periods, and we could continuously eat differently. It is said that dietary differences played a role in why different blood types emerged at different places and times in human species evolution and change. However, there is no clear evidence of this."

Blood Type-Based Nutrition Contains Contradictions

Dyt. Fatih Bıçaklar, an expert from DoktorTakvimi.com, points out that blood type-based nutrition divides the world population, currently approximately 8 billion, into four groups, and states that this contains contradictions. Dyt. Bıçaklar continues as follows: "For example; the claim that people with blood type A evolved as farming people leads to recommendations for vegetarian diet. Milk and bananas are also forbidden. People with blood type O are recommended to eat meat, fish, poultry and vegetables. People in blood type B are thought to be nomads. Therefore, these people are said to be able to consume red meat, eggs, dairy products and vegetables. People with AB blood type can consume tofu, seafood, some grains, vegetables, fruits and dairy products. They are thought to avoid smoked meat products and alcohol. However, with such restrictions, how can we meet the 70 nutrients that must be consumed daily? If we do not consume grains, dried legumes or vegetables to get the fiber that must be taken every day, how can we get it? A diet should always be sustainable and beneficial for your body."

Dyt. Bıçaklar emphasizes that whether a person's goal is to lose weight or build muscle, they should not expect miracles from diets. Stating that if we do not have any special illness, we need to consume sufficient amounts of every nutrient to be healthy, Dyt. Bıçaklar said: "In this way, you can easily lose weight, build muscle and stay away from diseases."
