Grain Exports Rose 16% in Seven Months

Istanbul Cereals, Legumes, Oilseeds and Products Exporters Association (İHBİR) Board Chairman Haluk Okutur stated that they exported to a total of 186 countries in 2021 and that İHBİR's exports in the first 7-month period of January-July 2021 reached USD 1,289.912 billion with a 16.97 percent increase. Okutur commented on the export figures: "In July, the cereals sector achieved a 10.85 percent increase compared to the same month of the previous year, with USD 652.804 million in exports. As İHBİR, among the 164 countries to which we exported in July 2021, our exports to the United States increased by 28.79 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, exports to Iraq increased by 38.38 percent, and exports to Venezuela showed a 198.76 percent increase on a value basis. Our association achieved USD 1 billion 289 million 912 thousand in exports with a 16.97 percent increase in the January-July period." he said. Okutur drew attention to the rapidly spreading forest fires in our country, saying: "Our country is combating fires that have broken out in many locations, primarily in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions in recent days. We sincerely thank all teams participating in extinguishing efforts and our citizens, and we pray for mercy from God for our citizens who have lost their lives. During this difficult period, as İHBİR, we will continue to stand by our citizens affected by forest fires with all our means and efforts in support of those affected by disasters. In line with requests, our aid packages consisting of 10 thousand items and 52 tons of feed have set out towards the disaster areas. We will heal our wounds together," he said.

Sugar and Sugar Products Exports

Okutur said that İHBİR achieved USD 148 million in exports in July, and added: "Our sugar and sugar products exports showed a 14.12 percent increase on a value basis in July, taking their place among the most exported product groups."       Source
