Gübretaş to Resume Production at İskenderun Plant
GÜBRETAŞ General Manager Yumaklı stated, "With the investment work we have launched to bring Turkey's first fertilizer factory back into production at our İskenderun facilities, we aim to put the new NPK compound fertilizer facility into service at the beginning of 2023."
Yumaklı continued: "While our producers work intensively for agricultural production despite the pandemic period and adverse weather conditions, GÜBRETAŞ also ensured uninterrupted supply of all plant nutrition products needed by our farmers during this period when the pandemic's impact was amplified in our country, fulfilling its leading responsibility in the sector. Additionally, GÜBRETAŞ expert agronomists continued to provide uninterrupted advisory services to our farmers both through strict measures against the pandemic and through online communication channels."
"New generation fertilizer production work is progressing at a rapid pace in the R&D Greenhouse"
İbrahim Yumaklı stated that in this challenging environment, GÜBRETAŞ focused on supplying the necessary products in line with market share and budget targets and ensuring their presence at distribution points before the time of use. Yumaklı said, "As a result of this intense pace, we can say that as of the end of the first quarter, our budget targets for this year have been realized, particularly in terms of sales, production and profitability. When our financial and operational results for the first quarter are announced in the coming days, it will be seen that we have maintained our pace this year following the year we completed with records." Explaining that they pursue R&D activities with many motivations such as supporting conscious and sustainable agriculture, producing plant nutrition products that will increase agricultural productivity, and conducting research that will reduce the sector's dependence on raw material imports, Yumaklı stated: "The GÜBRETAŞ R&D Center, which we put into operation in 2018 with the approval of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, provided a major boost to our company's R&D activities. In this context, with the support of the General Directorate of Agricultural Research and Policies (TAGEM) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, we have completed two productive years in the comprehensive R&D project we are conducting to prevent plant nutrient losses resulting from classical fertilizer applications and to develop plant-specific liquid fertilizers. We plan to complete the project this year with a report to be presented based on the trial plantings we will conduct. The year 2020 that we left behind was completed with important developments centered on R&D for GÜBRETAŞ. In the R&D Greenhouse, whose construction we completed and opened for use in October at Gebze Technical University under industry-university cooperation, new generation fertilizer production work is progressing at a rapid pace. With the biotechnological work carried out within the modern Microbiology Laboratory, which we opened in November, we aim to develop new product designs that will make positive contributions to agricultural productivity and bring new momentum to the chemical fertilizer sector, which is dependent on imports." he said.
