ETİ obtains seed registration rights

ETi, which has been implementing important projects for years to support the sustainability and development of agriculture and wheat production in Türkiye, has received a "Private Sector Agricultural Research Institution" certification from the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. With this authorization, ETi has earned the right to register new seed varieties resulting from seed breeding work and will use certified high-yielding seeds in its products. 

Contributing to agricultural sustainability, ETi continues to work alongside farmers through its contract farming model and regenerative agriculture practices covering 350,000 decare of production area and involving hundreds of farmers annually, while developing its activities in this field with new initiatives.

With its agricultural production development team, ETi has been conducting R&D breeding processes for 10 years, during which it has carried out wheat and oat seed breeding and seed development work tailored to superior quality standards. The company has now qualified for the "Private Sector Agricultural Research Institution" authority granted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. With its emphasis on innovation, ETi has been implementing breeding projects for years in collaboration with agricultural research institutes, scientific institutions and universities. Through its Private Sector Agricultural Research Institution authority, ETi will be able to participate in privileged seed registration processes in government institution and TÜBİTAK projects. Having also obtained the right to supply high-grade seeds in its seed production, ETi will be able to accelerate registration processes.

ETi preparing to use Karaduman and Ramisbey wheat varieties in contract production

Previously developed and registered in cooperation with the Transition Zone Agricultural Research Institute Directorate (GKTAEM) under the "Biscuit Wheat Breeding" project, Karaduman and Ramisbey wheat varieties have been harvested this year by ETi with its contract farmers. ETi has now begun work to incorporate these wheat varieties into its production process.

ETi steps forward for wheat and agriculture sustainability

As part of sustainable agriculture practices, ETi launched its contract farming model in 2011 and began seed production 10 years ago, particularly for distribution to its own contract farming producers. Establishing an Agricultural R&D and Seed Breeding Development unit where it developed a breeding program, ETi developed business plans on hybridization and seed development strategies to meet quality standards, while also conducting joint work to create TÜBİTAK-supported Biscuit Wheat Breeding and Seed Development projects. Beyond these, as will be recalled, ETi Burçak and WWF-Türkiye published Türkiye's Wheat Atlas between 2015 and 2017, and subsequently implemented the Spelt Wheat Preservation Project in 2017, followed by the Future Wheat education project between 2017 and 2018. ETi Burçak and WWF-Türkiye launched the Healthy Soil Movement between 2020 and 2024, and this year are preparing to travel through Anatolia village by village with Soil Volunteers.
