EİB Achieves Exports Worth $1.389 Billion

Aegean Exporters Unions raised their May exports by 14%, from USD 1.216 billion to USD 1.389 billion. Turkey's exports in May also grew by 15%, rising from USD 16.468 billion to USD 18.972 billion. The rate of export growth in May declined by 10 percentage points in both Turkey overall and the Aegean Exporters Unions records. Aegean Exporters Unions Exports Grew 25% Year-on-Year Of the 12 exporter unions under the Aegean Exporters Unions umbrella, 7 increased their May exports while 5 fell short of May 2021 figures. In the January-May period, the Aegean Exporters Unions, which raised exports by 24.3% to USD 6.1 billion, also advanced exports by 25% over the past 12 months, from USD 14.255 billion to USD 17.790 billion. In May, the Aegean Exporters Unions' industrial products exports grew by 11.4%, from USD 710.6 million to USD 791.7 million, while agricultural products exports showed stronger performance. Agricultural products exports from the Aegean Exporters Unions in May rose by 22.6%, from USD 412 million to USD 505 million. The mining sector also contributed USD 92 million to the Aegean Exporters Unions' exports. White Poppy Seeds Break Export Record The Aegean Cereals Legumes Oilseeds and Products Exporters Union raised its May exports by a record 207%, from USD 40 million to USD 123.7 million. With this achievement, the union moved up to second place among the highest exporting unions. Following receipt of an export visa from India, white poppy seeds generated USD 50 million in export performance in May, serving as the driving force behind the breaking of the export record.
