Cargill Receives 'Reliable Supplier Certificate'

Cargill's Turyağ production facility in Balıkesir earned the 'Trustworthy Supplier Certificate' by meeting the 'Supply Chain Trust Guide and Evaluation Criteria' published under the Supply Chain Trust Programme. Cargill, which aims to be a leader in safe, responsible and sustainable nutrition for the world, continues to build confidence with its customers. Cargill, which participated in the Supply Chain Trust Programme implemented by 12 civil society organizations, including the Out-of-Home Consumption Suppliers Association and the Food Safety Association, with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, received the 'Trustworthy Supplier Certificate' at its Turyağ production facility in Balıkesir by meeting the 'Supply Chain Trust Guide and Evaluation Criteria'. The certificate is awarded following inspections by independent organizations in accordance with international standards on food safety, logistics and storage conducted on a voluntary basis by producers and suppliers. Cargill, which always prioritizes quality and safety, has thus successfully certified the high quality, traceability and compliance of its products with processes. Tolga Demirel, Sales Director for Cargill Food Middle East, Turkey and Africa and Executive Board Member responsible for Sales, noted that food safety concerns have increased especially during the pandemic period, and drew attention to the importance of the Trustworthy Supplier Certificate.

Demirel continued: "We are proud and pleased that our Turyağ factory in Balıkesir, one of the most ambitious facilities in Turkey in terms of quality and safety, has earned the Trustworthy Supplier Certificate. In Balıkesir, we produce vegetable oils for food service and food components, strengthened by Cargill's global food safety recipe and healthy products expertise. We have a wide product portfolio ranging from pastry oils to baklava oils, from functional filling oils to chocolate coating oils, meeting the needs of the out-of-home consumption sector. Thanks to our substantial research and development and food safety investments in recent years, we have developed over 80 new products. We have undergone independent audits and documented our confidence in food safety, logistics and storage areas. This certificate is also an indication of the value we provide to our customers and consumers. I congratulate all our employees who contributed to this success, especially our quality department. The certification process is continuing for our corn processing factory in Orhangazi. We hope to obtain our second certificate soon."

All processes transparent with QR code

The Supply Chain Trust Guide project, through QR codes, allows consumers to use their mobile phones to see the journey of the food they eat or purchase through the supply chain. The consumer can see the brand and supplier of the materials on their plate in out-of-home consumption, and can also inquire about how the materials are transported and stored. Thus, restaurants, hotels, cafes, fast food outlets, catering services, canteens and similar establishments working with suppliers holding the Trustworthy Supplier Certificate can be chosen with confidence for dining and a pleasant experience.
