Cargill Launches Turyağ® TurCao
Cargill has launched Turyağ® TurCao, a locally produced cocoa butter equivalent featuring Shea Stearin in its formulation that delivers cocoa butter performance while offering extended shelf life and improved heat stability.
Turyağ® TurCao differentiates itself in chocolate applications such as tablet chocolate, dragées, pralines and wafers, functioning as a cocoa butter equivalent coating and filling oil.
According to Euromonitor data, chocolate consumption is rising in Turkey, the Middle East and Africa, with the chocolate market expected to grow 7% between 2023 and 2028. However, 15% of consumers report reducing their chocolate consumption over the past year due to budget constraints.
Cargill's Turyağ® TurCao, launched to address all these market needs, is produced at the Turyağ facility in Balıkesir, which holds Secure Supplier Certification for quality and safety in Turkey.
META Edible Oils Product Group Director Sonat Akat commented: "We are proud to be producing cocoa butter equivalent locally in our facility in Turkey for the first time. Turyağ TurCao is a significant step that will help manufacturers transition away from imported products, reduce their costs and provide greater flexibility for sustainable and quality chocolate production in Turkey."
Turyağ® TurCao is a product offering manufacturers flexible options to achieve different flavour profiles while maintaining excellent cocoa butter compatibility. With extended shelf life and improved heat stability for different climate conditions, Turyağ® TurCao meets chocolate standards when used at a maximum of 5% for chocolate, while adding functionality and providing a cost-effective solution.
