BASF Fulfills Palm Oil Commitment Again

BASF Reaffirms Palm Oil Commitment BASF has once again fulfilled its palm oil commitment: in 2021, 100 percent RSPO-certified palm kernel oil was sourced. In 2021, BASF again achieved its target of sourcing all palm kernel oils certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) as coming from sustainable sources. The company purchased 242,946 metric tonnes of certified palm kernel oil through a voluntary commitment, representing 100 percent of total sourcing volume in 2021. BASF also made further progress in developing transparent supply chains: approximately 96 percent of the company's global palm oil footprint – totalling 441,107 metric tonnes – can be traced back to the oil mill where it was produced. Compared to conventional sourcing, BASF avoided more than 330,000 metric tonnes of CO2 emissions.
